View Full Version : Calorie Deficit????

I am just wondering what my daily calorie deficit/day should be while I am trying to loose body fat. Currently I am around 250. I have been a strength athlete for over 4 years, but have gotten to large. I just started using fitday.com, and it says I should be consuming over 3100 cals a day for just normal activity with no exercise, and well beyond that on workout days to stay balanced. On non training days, my deficit has been around 500 cal/day, but on training days, that jumps to over 1300 cals/day!

I have a feeling that that large of a deficit will greatly hurt my strength which is something i dont want. I realize that by droping weight, i will be loosing some strength, but I don't want to do it that fast.

BTW, my goal is 225 lbs by december.
Any help would be appreciated.

I weighed 211 and dropped 25 lbs and was eating around 1800 cals/day. I was eating 6 or 7 meals each day and didn't go to sleep hungry. you need to figure out what your maintenance calories are so that you have a starting point, otherwise you're just guessing... Hope this helps
