I've been waiting for you to start another journal Mr. Barker. You had me worried there.

Great to see you back in action.

Although, frankly, much as I love the BB curls, your routine seems a tad unbalanced. Feel free to completely ignore my advice, as I generally haven't the faintest f*cking clue what I'm talking about--mostly I just like seeing my own words on the screen--but you seem to go with the Weider confusion principle. Have you thought about just sticking with a single, regimented routine? Seems like you do whatever feels right--which I can understand--and you have made some wonderful progress. But when I think what you'd be capable of if you stuck to a single routine and really milked it dry, it scares the sh*t out of me. Just a thought.

Believe me, I've tried. Sometimes at work, I'll write one all out on paper with all the right exercises and everything. Then when it comes time to lift I say "fuk it".

Ya know, I might not ever get anywhere lifting weights, but I sure do love lifting that iron.

I know some of his lifts are close like millitary pressing at 150lbs
and the tricep pushdowns at 120lbs
my millitary press max is around 150 and I go to 120lbs on the tricep pushdown
he also goes to 120lbs for incline db presses and I do that every week for at least 4 sets of 10

so I know we are close on some of his lifts anyway:D

one time my nuts swelled up like softballs and I couldnt go to work, I took pictures of them and the developing store said they wouldnt develop them, I bummed out cause I would never be able to prove to people my nuts were so big, so I got some plaster of paris and tried to make a mold of them but when the plaster dried I couldnt get my nuts out, so I tried to delicatly use a hammer to crack the mold so my nuts could slip out, but I was too scared, so for two days I had huge swollen nuts inside a bowl of plaster, it was a bad week

Fart Barker

Chris - The first time I took 1-AD (about 3 months ago) I gained 8 pounds and added 25 to my bench in only two weeks. I'm trying for 3 weeks this time. There are two major sides I've noticed; diminished sex drive and lethargy.

Captain - That is one helluva story

Well since you gave me a compliment in my journal, I don't feel too goofy complimenting you. I think this is my favorite journal. I always laugh my ass off at some thing or other your write. Yes, I realize that I did squats, chins, and curls yesterday. I might just do this everyday. I had to take some Vioxx for my elbow. I think it's tendonitis. The chins and curls only make it worse and I still keep doing them because I am the smartest man that ever lived.

FYI, I will always be using a belt and knee wraps for squats. Stance is wide, depth is only to parallel. Curls are semi-strict. No full-body heave-ho crap.

My freakin hands and feet are itching again. My only relief is scalding-hot water and a fork. It's gotta be the 1-AD. That being said, the cycle ends now. I only gained about 4 pounds (probably all fat) in 13 days. My strength was up a little on everything except the almighty bench press. This was definitely a complete waste of money for me.

I'll be using a new format for my journal which I copied from CBates.

Looks like a solid routine to me. Maybe a little low on the volume, and I'd like to see an overhead press of some kind, but overall it looks quite good. Hope you stick to it. Hope your itching has subsided too.

And why did you use CBates' format, mine not good enough for ya?

Actually, Ergopharm is pretty good in terms of truthful ad-copy. They're pushing it with the 1-AD ads, but I still think, on the whole, they're truthful. Merely claims based on the science. No promises of X amount of muscle; no before and after shots; no "paid" endorsements. Though Pat Arnold's done some shady stuff of late, in general, I think he's still one of the most respectable guys in the industry.

I know they arnt all bad but it puts a shade on the biz, after youve been taken its hard to look at them the same, but I still think if you pay $50 for something that has any type of claim, if it dosnt live up to it you should get your money back with an appology

If the FDA had its way, you would not be able to buy 1-AD, or EC, or 1-Test. The list goes on. There are positives and negatives to regulatory agencies like the FDA. It depends on what you think is most important. I prefer to have the option to buy what I want. I just make sure I make informed decisions.

My experience with 1-AD....

1. Increased strength
2. Muscles were full and pumped all the time
3. COMPLETE loss of sex drive
4. Felt tired & lazy all the time
5. Increased flatulence
6. Increased appetite
7. My nuts got smaller

I really wouldn't recommend it. Considering you've taken steroids before, I think you'd probably be very disappointed.

Okay, so now I've got a question. How did One compare to 1-AD? I get the feeling you didn't think it worked as well, which surprised me as I've read so many positive things from other people.

Fart Barker
05-03-2002, 06:43 PM
I really thought One would be better but in my particular case the 1-AD produced better results. I also think that I didn't really take either one of them long enough to give them a fair chance. Nor did I consume enough protein for optimal muscle growth. I'm probably the worst candidate for a 1-AD or One trial as my diet and lifting regimen both suck.

If somebody was eating a good diet and had a sound lifting routine then they might enjoy some success if they were on it long enough (if they could handle that sluggish feeling you get most of the time).

I'm not gonna go around bashing the two products for these reasons and I never will forget that I was on 1-AD when my bench went from 275 to 300.

My elbow is F'd up. It's my inner left elbow. The injury is called medial epicondylitis or golfer's elbow (and I don't even golf). The underhand chins and curls are preventing it from healing so I'm going to start doing rows and non-weighted overhand chins instead. Actually, I'd be much better off resting it completely for at least a week but I'm too smart for that.

6 week cycle, 2 week deconditioning cycle
3 whole body workouts per week
1 set x 12 reps per exercise (except chins) for the whole cycle
start off with ridiculously light weight
increase 5 lbs each exercise each workout

Squat

Barbell Rows
Shoulder Press
Barbell Curls

Looks good to me. Though I'd put the chins between squatting and benching. Just personal preference, though. Also, why two weeks deconditioning? Your shoulder still bothering you? Also, why are you skipping the 15's? I can understand skipping low-reps if they give you joint pain, but the whole idea of the 15's is to help alleviate such problems.

Anyways, hope you stick with the plan. Would be very cool, IMO.

Fart Barker
05-08-2002, 04:16 AM
I'm still not sure if I'll do 1 or 2 weeks deconditioning. Maybe 15's the first 3 weeks and 10's the last 3 weeks. I definitely want to skip the low reps. I kinda like finishing off the workout with chins; sorta stretches me out.

I hope I stick with it too. I haven't been on any routine longer than a few days. It'll be fun lifting light weights and making them feel heavy.

Fart Barker

It's only been 4 days since my last workout and I'm going crazy. I want to lift but I know I need this time off before my upcoming HST routine. I just keep telling myself: "Fart Barker, you've been lifting weights for 9 months now and you are still 2 Big Macs shy of looking like Drew Carey so this small amout of time off certainly won't hurt matters, it can only help your pathetic condition."

When I started last year I wanted to lean out and put on some muscle. Well, I've put on some muscle but I've also put on more fat. When it became obvious to me that I couldn't follow a strict diet, I wanted to be a strong benching mofo. Now I'm just a bloated fat bastard and I don't particularly like it anymore. Does it really matter that I can bench 300 pounds? Hell, I don't even look like I lift weights. My body sucks and that's gonna change.

Last routine...

9 months of dumbass lifting

Upcoming routine...

8 weeks HST
4 wks 15's then 4 wks 10's
3 full-body workouts per week
1 or 2 sets per exercise
perfect form
full ROM
slow tempo

I think I might buy an EZ Curl bar today. I had one before but it wasn't for olympic weights. I think it'll be better for my elbow on the curls and I can even do some skull crushers.

Thanks again B&I.

The last few days I have been eating better than ever so my waist has thinned out a little I think. That bloated feeling from the 1-AD is pretty much gone now too. It really makes your gut bloat out.

I've always been pretty critical of myself and I think I should have progressed much further than this. When I see those two pics, I do see an improvement but not much of one. My wife says I look better but I'm pretty sure she would say that no matter what as she sees how much effort I put into lifting.

It's the doodoo-heads at work that say I'm getting fat that really has me second guessing myself. I wonder why it's okay to tell a man he's getting fat but may God help your pitiful soul if you tell a woman that. But hey, I definitely haven't lost any sleep over the matter. :D

This workout was NOT the walk in the park I thought it would be. For starters, the 95 pound squat is damn near my 15 rep max. I went with shoulder width stance below parallel instead of my usual wide stance to parallel. I had to elevate my heels to keep myself upright. My legs were shaking the rest of the workout. It was almost comical, especially when it came time for the BB Rows. I'm glad I workout in the privacy of my own home.

I had the same reaction to my first HST workout. Squatting for 15 reps is tough--at any weight.

Any reason? I actually am of the opinion that you should squat however is most comfortable; generally, feet wider than shoulder width with toes out at 30 degrees or so(Though it differs from person to person.) I think elevating your heels is, in general, a bad idea as it leads to increased stress on the knee joint.

This kinda sounds like me. I'm usually drenched in sweat, dropping weights, and tripping over myself by the end of my workouts. At least it provides some amusement for other gym- goers.

As I've stated before, one of the important facets of HST is progressive load. But it's fine to keep the load the same for 2 or so sessions if you think you're not going to be able to be progressive for the entire mini-cycle otherwise.

BTW, great job man.

I think elevating your heels is, in general, a bad idea as it leads to increased stress on the knee joint.I was basically trying to make it tougher on myself and hit the quads harder. I had no idea it was going to be that difficult. I think you're probably right about elevating my heels. I'm still not comfortable with the movement in any form. Might try a little wider stance next time without the elevation.

Squats were easier this time. I widened my stance a little. Still not as wide as I'm used to squatting though.

My ephedrine and caffeine are on the way. This is a good thing because the Xenadrine knock-off crap I'm taking isn't all that great.

Other than that looks great so far and good luck with HST. I am in the 5's now and HST has worked out great so far.

Last night I was sitting outside on my deck smoking my last cigarette of the day when a bright flash of light nearly blinded me. Then a little alien appeared in my back yard wielding some sort of device that looked like one of those treasure finder metal detector things. He looked like a typical alien only smaller. I then proceeded to ask him what he was doing and if I could help him. He told me to shut up and mind my own business. He sounded just like Gilbert Gottfried so I was cringing as he spoke. Then I got up and told him that he better start minding his manners or I was gonna open up a whole can of whoopass on him. He just laughed and said okay Earthling, we did a surface scan of your planet looking for crabgrass and found the highest concentrations right here, we will be taking some soil samples and some crabgrass, and then be on our way. I told him to take all the crabgrass he needed. After about 5 more minutes of the alien's little treasure hunt he said he was finished and was leaving. Before he left I asked him what was the best weightlifting routine for me. He pulled out a little black book and tossed it to me and then he vanished in the same bright flash of light that he came with. I will be using the routine specified in the little black book. It is called Fundamentally Asinine & Radical Training, or FART for short.

what else did the aliens say Unfortunately the alien didn't say anything else but everything I ever needed to know is in the little black book. According to the little black book it is critical that I record the time of day for each set performed. I must also NOT perform more than one exercise for any particular day. There's a whole lot more stuff too but I've got to use a magnifying glass just to read the damn thing. The letters are incredibly small.
