View Full Version : Letting a protein shake sit

In an attempt to dispel a likely unknown myth/rumor, I am looking for an answer.

What happens if I do as I frequently do and mix protein powder with milk at say 7:30 and let it sit (with ice cubs so it doesn't get warm) and drink it at around 9:00?

Is there any possibility that the liquid will deplete the nutrients if it sits for only a couple hours? Or what if it sits even longer?

I seriously doubt that you need to worry about the nutrients in a shake being depleted from letting it sit for awhile. In my experience when I make a shake hours before I drink it the only thing that happens is that the powder dissolves better.

I do it all the time, usually without ice. I think its fine. Where would the nutrients go anyway?
