My doctor prescribed me with a 6 day supply of MethylIPRENISolone for a minor medical condition I have.

I've been told this is a steroid, and I'm wondering if it will have any effect on my body while I'm currently bulking.

Are all steroids the same? Do they all increase muscle growth? Some of the side-effects include "increased appetite" and "weight gain".

Is there anything I should avoid nutritionally while I'm on this medication?

I was planning on asking my doctor but I didn't want him to think I was faking something to get roids (I have no interest in using them for non-medicinal reasons) and he seemed rather in a hurry to leave after he wrote the 'scrip (which was kind of rude).

I don't know what it is... But all steroids are not the same (ie: they aren't all anabolic/androgenic)

I'm aware anabolic steroids are the ones specifically targetted at increasing muscle growth; does it follow than non-anabolic steroids will have no impact on muscle growth?

Yes.

ie: cortisone injections -- it's basically an anti-inflammatory injection but it's a steroid. It won't help you grow muscle.

Another example is many asthma inhalers, many of them are steroid based.

What you are taking is a corticosteroid, it will have weight gaining effects but they are purely water mediated. You should avoid most NSAIDS and booze while on this medication. The term steroid just means that it is a hormone with a cholesterol ring.

Well I don't drink so avoiding "booze" is no problem, but what are "NSAIDS"?

non steroidal anti-inflammatories; asprin isn't bad, but Ibuprofen, aleve, and tylenol are all hard on your liver and the methylprednisone is already putting stress on it.
