I have my first meet coming up on Nov. 8th and have only started training for 'pause' the last couple of weeks. I know, shame on me. It's just something I never done. My best bench with touch n go is 425 about a month ago. I'll be honest with you guys, I really struggle with 385 with a pause. I am wondering if this is pretty normal or could it be something form related. My pause is only about a second.
I plan on doing a ME bench on Sunday, then taking the rest of the week off from doing chest routine - the meet is on the following Saturday. It would give me 6 days of rest and recovery. I'm looking for pointers for this workout that I need to focus on. I think one of my problems may be that I am lowering the bar too slowly.
In competition, how long is there (typically) between each attempt? I know it all depends on how many lifters, etc.
