Politcal Question (no debating please)

Just curious, has anyone actually changed their minds on who they are voting for (or voted for if you voted early) due to anything you read on this or another message board?

Thought it would be interesting if all our debating is indeed totally worthless haha :lurk:

and the poll is private if you do not want to let people know

No. It's really kind of a waste of time, but that's the point of debating on here for me. Passing time in between classes or work...

actually nothing on the boards or any board for that matter has ever changed my oppinion, im usully good in deciding for myself and i like to listen to both sides and see what they have to say and what i agree with and i make my choice from their, i get info from many sources, but a weightlifintg forum isnt one of them....lol

I have been dorking it up on internet message boards since I was like 14. My views on religion, politics, etc. have changed drastically because of them (much moreso than what I've learned in school). I pretty much only post on/read this board now, but I guess this one hasn't changed my views as much as a couple other ones. If you have smart members that take the time to post informed things, then I think an internet message board is a great place to learn things. It's kind of like participating in a peer-reviewed journal for more busy and less smart people ... but still a lot more helpful than most quick exchanges that you make verbally, which are harder to back up with detailed facts.


As far as this specific election ... not really. There's so many outlets that give us way more information about the candidates than I need. I'm pretty set about my political ideology, and there haven't been a lot of arguments on here against libertarianism that I haven't seen, so it's not like it's changing my views.

My opinion have definitely changed as a result of debates on this board. Perhaps not political opinions but I remember for one TwiloMike and some others made me more tolerant toward gays and gay culture and whatnot. RIP TwiloMike

Honestly this is very true for me too. I really watch what I say now and how I judge homosexuals because of Twilo.

No. Not in this election. Everyone spins everything to make their case. Rarely will you get an honest view without an agenda. You're better off to just try and figure it our for yourself.

i cant vote so it didnt change my election choice, but it definatly made me scrutinize the candidates a little more closely, and now (if i were able to vote) i would be undecided. i dont think theres anything with learning a few things from a message board, like someone stated earlier, as long as you have smart people posting intelligent (mostly) unbiased stuff.

Well, you can have people posting material that is biased if you and other people are interpreting that material and seeing its flaws... You usually end up reaching the truth that way..

The hard part is there are so many facts/surveys/theories that can be used on one side or another. There are pros to free market economies as well as pros to socialist economies. It just depends on which you think has more validity and which is more appropriate for the country at that time.
I generally have my mind made up on which policies that *I* think (wrong or right) are best for this country and I want to vote for the candidate that will have the highest degree of correlation with what I see. Finding the candidate that is in line with what I like can often be tricky as there will be some that I will agree with on just a few, yet key, issues, but disagree with 85% of the other issues, and vice versa. That is the main cause of my personal flip flopping.
