View Full Version : My first experience with a Prowler "aka Satan's progeny"

So I finally found a welder down here who could fabricate a Prowler for me. I picked it up this week, not a bad deal either at $135. Today I decided to finally break it out after my workout. Holy s*&^t, that thing really is incredible for conditioning. I did about 25 minutes of various things with it which I figured wasn't very much when I put my plan together. Umm, I was wrong. Either I am in horrible shape (which is probably true) or that thing is the spawn of satan, all the way down to its red color. I am now lying on the couch content to stay in the fetal position for a good 6 hours for recovery.

I'll be ordering one soon. Everyone seems to love/hate them.

no better contraption out there for unadulterated GPP. Glad I ordered one for personal use outside of the one at 1-0-7

I run 4 miles 2x a week for cardio and let me tell you, that is nothig compared to this thing. I read about the Prowler Challenge that DeFranco has and it looked pretty easy. Umm, yeah, I was way wrong. I don't know how those EliteFTS guys load 4 plates a side on that thing.

The prowler is a jealous lover.

Just had to find some video of this thing called the Prowler. Now I am wondering who the sick individual is who dreamed up this torture device? And when can I get a turn?!!

Once I come back I might have to get one. Pain will ensue.

Hey I saw the video on EFS.. Hell the make us do that for our DOT physical. but thankfully they only put like 2 (45's) on the thing.. we have to both push and pull the darn thing. It aint so bad? but then again I havent done 6 plates.. I think one might want to invest in ear plugs the way it sounds on pavement!

I couldn't even imagine pushing that thing in the grass. Plus, I ejoyed the looks I got when I was pushing it in a parking lot. People were craning their necks to watch a grown man cry like a baby.

Yeah, I'll be using mine in the grass when I get it.

I recommend asphalt - much easier on the push and on the ears. Plus if you go fast enough it makes sparks!!

I think that right there would be optimum for my football training. How much do those things weigh. the videos I've seen make it look way to light to be difficutl.

Try it and see if you feel the same way. Ours is like 100 or so pounds I think.

I can't think of a better tool designed to aid in GPP for football. If I were still coaching, all my kids would be burning this thing up in the offseason

haha I just wish I could find a place where I can get one with plates and stuff for a bit over 100 and store it too. I have a small garage.

Haha, just wait young jedi. Relatively speaking, my lifts are the same as yours and it is anything but easy. You are probably in better shape than I am, but it is way tougher than it sounds. I thought the Prowler challenge would be easy and I couldn't even come close to getting it my first time out.

I've never heard of this "prowler" until today I am most fascinated by the contraption I wish to learn more.

Another day with the Prowler and I learned that not asphalt is all equal. To the person who thought the Prowler challenge was a piece of cake, o way. I am again sitting on my ass the rest of the night and can barely move.

Will never forget the night reko and I did 20 sets with the prowler, we both sat inside motionless afterwards and watched ALL of star wars episode IV on t.v.

neither of us said a word, well except for reko's soft sobbing

I did 6 40 yd sprints, 2 suicides, and some drags and have maybe moved 20 ft. I tried some new parking lot where the asphalt is much rougher and harder to drag. That may have been a bad idea.
