When did you start lifting weights?

In college 20+ years ago.

Why did you start/ what inspired you?

because I was tall pretty skinny and had little self esteem.

What type of gym do you go to?

Oops, read that wrong, so I edited what was here. I thought it said did go to. Now I go to several different gyms, most powerlifting friendly, but only one of them has all the cool powerlifting toys.

Training partner yes or no?

Yes, depending on workout. ME benching is usually with a group, DE squats almost always alone.

For or against anabolics?

Neither.

Why?

It's a personal choice.

Your favorite bodypart to workout?

I don't work body parts, I work movements. My favorite is bench ( because it's my worst ).

Ultimate cheat meal?

Cheat meal?, LOL what am I cheating against? I guess my cheat meal would be not eating, since I'm trying to gain.

Best dieting aid?

Milk.

What kindof cardio do you do?

Powder skiing, taekwondo.

What do you wear to the gym?

My westside barbell tank top, and shorts.

mp3 player/ cd/ or silence when lifting?

Usually Metallica or Tool

Ever competed (powerlifting, bodybuilding, fitness, figure, etc.)?

Powerlifting, I've been to two meets.

What are your future goals?

To bench 400+ raw, and continue to get stronger over all.

Straps, wraps, gloves, chalk?

Not usually any of them, chalk sometimes.

What keeps you motivated?

My progress and knowing where I want to get.

Started lifting weights in 7th grade. Inspired by older brother and friend doing standing presses in the backyard. Currently workout at a commercial gym, very few powerlifters or bodybuilders. Don't train with a partner...never had em, never will. Just taking nanovapor and extra creatine and amino acids. Not for or against steroids. I would never use them, but I don't judge people. My favorite bodypart to workout would be for benchpress and assistance exercises. My favorite cheat meal is anything I want. I workout everyday, so I basically maintain my bodyweight right now eating whatever I want. Best dieting aide for me would be exercise. I don't do any cardio right now...honestly haven't for the past 6 years. I feel like I huff and puff enough during my workouts. I basically wear gym shorts and t-shirt in the gym. Mp3 player, usually with Disturbed, sometimes Kid Rock, but mainly metal. I've competed in the Mr. Iowa in 1989...won the teen lightweight division (dropped 25 lbs training for it), Used to compete in powerlifting during first years of college, then just competed in my first raw competition in the past 20 years a month ago..pretty fun. My future goal would be to break 405 in the bench...getting closer. Fanny pack, honest answer is yes, but when I got it home I thought it looked so *** that I didn't ever where it. I did own the multi-pocketed pants but never parachute pants. Favorite powerlifter Ed Coan, Favorite Bodybuilder was probably Mike Mentzer. I use wraps, occasional gloves ( I touch people's skin everyday and can't have them too rough), Occasional straps and my gym doesn't allow chalk (sissies). What keeps me motivated? I'm in a profession that I want to stay fit and looking healthy so it is easier to motivate my patients. Also, I have 3 kids and my daughter is getting close to dating age so there's some extra motivation.

When did you start lifting weights?
I got an old concrete weight set when I was 8 and lifted in the basement. I finally found out about powerlifting when I was 18; I'm 28 now and have no desire to stop anytime soon.

Why did you start/ what inspired you?
I was a small kid and wanted to get bigger for sports.

What type of gym do you go to?
I bounce around between the local hardcore gym (Atlas in Kenosha, WI) and a few powerlifting groups to get monolift work and shirt work in.

Training partner yes or no?
Kind of...when I go to the powerlifting groups I do; but about 1/2 my work is solo.

Favorite supplement(s)?
Nitrean and Monster.

For or against anabolics?
Don't care... whatever an individual wants todo is cool with me.

Why?
Anabolics are just one piece of a huge puzzle and won't automatically "create" a champion.

Your favorite bodypart to workout?
Torn between squatting and benching.

Ultimate cheat meal?
Don't really diet so I don't have to cheat!

Best dieting aid?
Staying really busy and forgetting to eat.

What kindof cardio do you do?
Repetition squats, and a physical job.

What do you wear to the gym?
Shorts and a T-Shirt.

mp3 player/ cd/ or silence when lifting?
Some kind of noise is nice....but no i-pod or anything...I can't have that strapped to me while I lift.

Ever competed (powerlifting, bodybuilding, fitness, figure, etc.)?
Powerlifting (10 years now).

What are your future goals?
Total over 2000...continually lift more weight.

Come on..did you ever own a fanny pack or parachute pants lol?
I used to have "Skidz" that I would cut off as shorts.

Your favorite powerlifter or bodybuilder of all time?
Wow, that's a tough one.... I'd have to say Ed Coan and Shawn Frankl.

Straps, wraps, gloves, chalk?
NEVER gloves! all else is good.

What keeps you motivated?
Adding weight to the bar.

When did you start lifting weights? I was 14 years old when I started.

Why did you start/ what inspired you? I was extremely small compared to the other kids, I just wanted to put some size on.

What type of gym do you go to? I have a set up in my garage, I've rigged up most things I need with the help of Lowes and some creative thought.

Training partner yes or no? Not at this time, but I would welcome the right one.

Favorite supplement(s)? Creatine, L-Glutamine, Protein powder, a host of herbs and vitamins.

For or against anabolics? It's a personal choice, I don't use them myself, but as long as someone who uses them doesn't compete in a drug-free competition, it doesn't matter to me.

Why? I can see the draw to them, if they were legal, I'd be using them.

Your favorite bodypart to workout? legs/squats

Ultimate cheat meal? Turkey sandwiches and milk.

Best dieting aid? ECA

What kindof cardio do you do? Cycling

What do you wear to the gym? T-shirt and shorts

mp3 player/ cd/ or silence when lifting? MP3

Ever competed (powerlifting, bodybuilding, fitness, figure, etc.)? Powerlifting competions for several years, took a break to try other sports, now back to powerlifting.

What are your future goals? To continually get stronger and maybe win an equipped meet without equipment.

Come on..did you ever own a fanny pack or parachute pants lol? Damn it, I owned both and I'll admit, the fanny pack was hard to part with.

Your favorite powerlifter or bodybuilder of all time? Vogelpohl, Coan, Pacifico, Anthony Clark, Weisberger.

Straps, wraps, gloves, chalk? No gloves.

What keeps you motivated? Trying to go beyond what I think I can do, continually improving, breaking PR's.

When did you start lifting weights?
13 off and on, about 18 is when I got serious.

Why did you start/ what inspired you?
Get strong and look good for myself.

What type of gym do you go to?
I train at the free gyms the military provides me with usually, then do events with my crew at one of our houses.

Training partner yes or no?
Several, without my brothers in strength I would not be nearly the man I am today.

Favorite supplement(s)?
Don't use supplements.

For or against anabolics?
I have no qualms about what others do to their bodies, at the current time I am seeing good gains and have no reason to use anything other than food and sleep to continue to get stronger.

Why?
See above answer

Your favorite bodypart to workout?
Uh......ima go with posterior chain in general.

Ultimate cheat meal?
BABIES!!! But really.......it changes all the time, I don't watch what I eat all that much.

Best dieting aid?
Lots of water.

What kindof cardio do you do?
I carry heavy objects up and down stairwells all day at my job, that's about it.

What do you wear to the gym?
Whatever I grab first, usually shorts or sweatpants, and always a t-shirt, never do the wife beater thing, as an active member in a military gym I find it extremely unprofessional to have that much of myself hanging out in front of my seniors, peers, and subordinates. However when training events anything goes. Because then they aren't around.

mp3 player/ cd/ or silence when lifting?
Nope, just me in my world.

Ever competed (powerlifting, bodybuilding, fitness, figure, etc.)?
Powerlifting in intermural competitions, and strongman.

What are your future goals?
Continue with strongman, of course everyone's eyes are on the prize of a pro card, because if it wasn't we defintatley wouldn't do this to ourselves.

Come on..did you ever own a fanny pack or parachute pants lol?
Nope.

Your favorite powerlifter or bodybuilder of all time?
Honestly reading the articles from Louie Simmons has given me alot of insight on strength overall, so I'd have to say him. As well I never was able to meet Jesse Marunde, but all that he has done for the sport and learning from those close to him has made him a personal hero to me not only as an althete but as a man.

Straps, wraps, gloves, chalk?
Knee wraps, elbow sleeves, lots of chalkish, occasionally tacky, and big fat power belt.

What keeps you motivated?[/QUOTE]
"A man's strength is not judged by where he starts, but where he ends"

If I stop now, my own self judgement would be very low and by no means am I a quitter. I am very self motivated.
