Currently I am paying about $23/month plus tax. I would like to ask my gym if they can lower that amount for me. The gym is decent but has nothing special; no pool, no basketball court, etc. I am also limited on what time I can go to the gym (I can't go during peak hours).
All this actually isn't a big deal to me. But I want to lower my monthly dues. For those of you who work/worked at a gym, or maybe had your membership lowered, whats your advice?
My gym does offer these wierd promos, pay $200 and your gym membership will be $10 for life. Good deal if you know you aren't going to move.
My company does offer discounts thru 24 Hour Fitness, but the 24hr near me has horrible parking, it is downtown. They don't offer any parking for members!!!!

$23/month is cheap, probably one of the cheapest rates I've heard of.

Find a better deal at a different gym and take it to the manager at your current gym and tell them you're thinking about going elsewhere and ask them if they can do anything about it.
I got about $10 knocked off and 6 month's free tanning when I did this, but I also had 2 other guys with me considering the same deal so it was 3 guys or nothing in his eyes...

Agree, The gym I went to a few years ago was pretty lame and it was 35 a month back then. I love lifting at home, I can focus 100% on what i'm doing without any waiting around.

$23/month is a great rate. Anyway, I used to get a pretty big discount for being a student and paying all at once. I think the monthly total went from $45 to $27/month.
Yea, I paid up front and got 6 months free at a place. It averaged out to being less than 20 a month I think (they were hurting for business I think).
regardless, $23 a month isn't bad if you are able to get workouts there.

The cheapest, ****tiest gym around where I live is like $60 a month. I don't see what you are complaining about.

Yeah dude... if your gym has everything you need for a solid work out, then $23 a month is nothing... My gym is $50 a month and it doesn't have a pool or a basketball court either, lol.

My family membership was lowered because my dad was in the military.. Its the only way for my gym (365) rates to be lowered..

$46 per month at the YMCA for me. I used to pay like...40-ish at my old place. Both have pool, basketball, raquetball, indoor track, etc. It's all in one place now. At my old gym, it was all in one of three locations across a 20 mile range. That ws ok, though. It was always nearby if I was at work or home.
23 bucks a month is awesome. I'd take that deal somewhere if they only had weights.

i pay 35 or 37 for just weights.... they won't get DB's above 100's, the bars are almost all bent and they don't have much equipment at all.... so 23 is pretty good IMO.
