I may have to say yes. Especially considering this guy uses no belt, wraps, or a suit...

I can't watch youtube right now. Its restricted here in school. Would you be so kind to explain to me what he did? How heavy was it? Who was the guy? How deep? How wide was the stance? How much did he weigh and how fast was he in the eccentric portion? Thank you.

Strong yes, but I prefer this squat. Then again, I might be a bit biased since he's my buddy.

Yeah, Chakarov was a beast! Eduardo Guadamud's 310 x 2 squat is ridiculously impressive too. Its hard to not be impressed with the depth, speed and ease that they hit these things with.

I think rather than writing you a novel, I'll just let you wait until you access a computer where you can watch it yourself.

That was what I couldn't get over. Chakarov is moving heavy ass weight for a double as if he only has 135 on his back...

I cannot remember the name or even the year but I do remember when I was 14 or so I got a copy of powerlifting usa and they showed a picture of a huge russian guy in a drug free meet squating over 900 pounds and literally his butt was maybe 4 inches from the ground and he was in a singlet and that was it.

Well I started the thread, so I think I get a bit more slack here. And somehow the interpretation of "Best Squat Ever" morphed into who do the most weight about 2" above parallel. Chakarov squatting nearly 600 pounds for a double while pinning his hamstrings against his calves without the use of a belt, knee wraps, or a suit is still as impressive as most other vids out there...

I've seen a lot of squatting, but this one wins hands down:

Now, before this starts a rash of copycats, understand that part of the reason I like the video so much is that I don't think this fool was seriously hurt.

Does not "patting each other on the back" equate to dictating to other posters when they are allowed to comment on what topics? I would think that adults would share opinions without making imperative statemements (i.e. "Grow up" or "Stick to what you know"...)

LOL - while I've seen this vid many times and usually laugh at the stupidity of the lifter, that reminded me that there was a lawsuit filed just a couple months ago in St. Louis against the manufacturer of one of these Smith machine knock-offs where the lifter went down like that and is now paralyzed.

As to the comment on passing the squat - jump under 1000+ lbs and do it yourself if you think you can do better...

I knew this was coming. The fact that I can't squat 1000 pounds does not mean that someone who is attempting it should get a break on depth just because it's a lot of weight. If you can only squat 900 with proper depth, then that is your true 1RM.

This thread was started about different people's opinion of the best squat ever. Keep it on topic or this thread will be locked

That was horrible. His hamstrings didn't smash against his calves. He was clearly high. The angle of the video shows that to be true, undisputedly. And, eventhough I wasn't there judging, I know it was high because there's video of it and it's a WR. I can't believe you guys think this squat is good. He should take off his suit, briefs, belt, and wraps because real (weak) men lift raw. I mean RAW!

No WR squat ever has or ever will be good. Just because someone is going for a WR doesn't mean they should get gifts. This terrible judging is ruining powerlifting.

Oh wait that's just on the internet. Also, The head judge at my friends meet gave someone a red for depth when both sides gave whites.
