I saw a bobybuilder at my gym switching from running backwards for a few mins to forwards. I tried this on the treadmill at home on a bit of an incline and could really feel it in my calves. But is there really any advantage to this or was he just bored of running forwards.

I know that when our coach in football practice would make us run backwards it could feel it in my quads a lot more. But I don't see how it would be more beneficial for cardio, as a matter of fact it seems more dangerous to do that on a treadmill.

There is a girl at my gym that runs sideways. Like side lunges on the treadmill. I keep waiting for her to eat it once.

That just sounds like entertainment waiting to happen.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure there can't be anything good about backwards jogging on a treadmill, outside maybe, but on a treadmill just seems dangerous. Maybe I'm just a pansy though...

Well it is pretty bad ass. Thanks guys
I'd rather do it on a treadmill than risk bashing into someone because I'm not looking where I'm going lol
we did this to condition for football, for probably 200+ meters. hamstrings were obliterated.

It does hit the quads a lot harder. Pulling a heavy weighted sled backwards is a surefire way to ensure that you won't want to go up stairs the next day.

I wouldn't run backwards on the road. Bounce the back of your noggin off the ground hard enough, you're getting coloring books for Christmas.
