This stuff gets confusing lol.
Is anyone else here an OPA member? I am trying to get all this settled before the new year. I really want to compete next year and I am not sure if I am on the right path.

Than being said, there is some IPF approved gear that I am curious about.

-Squat suit, bench shirt, deadlift suit... Are these all really needed? If so, what are some IPF legal suits?

-singlet for bench press- Don't I always wear a singlet and just the suit over it? Forgive my ignorance lol

-wrist wraps- Do I really need these?

-Shin length socks- How are these? http://www.liftinglarge.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=33
And could I use deadlift slippers on top of the socks if I want to?

The list also includes elastics for wraps... This is all confusing lol.

-A lot of single ply stuff is IPF legal. Usually on the site you are ordering it from it is listed as IPF legal or not, if you aren't sure contact the seller. You should be able to find a list of approved equipment on your federations website.
-If you are wearing a deadlift suit or squat suit you do not wear a a singlet. You will always were one while benching, if you are equipped it would just be over your shirt.
-Wrist wraps are not necessary for raw work but I would suggest them for any benching in the shirt.

I'm going to let other handle the federation specific questions.

Like Sidior said, most sites list their gear as being IPF legal if it can be used.

-singlet for bench press- Don't I always wear a singlet and just the suit over it? Forgive my ignorance lol

Again, like Sidior said, you only need a singlet for the bench press. I'm not sure if you know what a singlet is.. But if you've ever seen a wrestling match that's what a singlet is.

-wrist wraps- Do I really need these?

Nope, that's personal choice, but I'd recommend them to save your wrists.

-Shin length socks- How are these? http://www.liftinglarge.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=33

Yup, those socks would be fine.

The list also includes elastics for wraps... This is all confusing lol.

Some people like to put an elastic around their wraps once they are rolled up to make sure that they know which pair to use for 1st, 2nd and 3rd attempts or whatever. I don't bother with that..

Here's the approved list of gear on the IPF website: http://www.powerlifting-ipf.com/Approved-List.51.0.html If it's not on this list, you can't use it. Also you have to be careful if you have gear modified. I haven't had any of my stuff modified so I'm not the best person to ask but you can email any of the provincial reps listed on the OPA website and I'm sure they could help you out with any questions you have.
