ok, i cannot afford the real bands from elite or ironwoody, and i read on a DIY site that these work great can anyone tell me which ones i should order?

http://www.mcmaster.com/

search pallet banding and they are the second ones down.

please some advice on these and if you think they will work.

I've never heard of this, but it sounds like a big risk. Jump stretch bands, Ironwoody, etc. are proven and reliable. Imagine squatting with some heavy band tension and having one of those pallet bands snap on you... disaster. Just my two cents.

yeah i was thinking that but then at the same time these things are used to hold heavy containers together for transport and that aint easy so they may hold up. i am just trying to figure out what circumference i should get to use for squats.

I think standard bands are 42" long, so the circumference would be about 84".

I used them for a long time before i got the actual bands - they'll work but you have to use many more bands than you would of the jumpstretch or ironwoody ones.

Ben so you used these would you recommend me getting them or hold out and get some jump stretch bands?

so if i got
High-Strength Rubber Banding Heavy Duty, 3/4" W X 1/16" Thk X 84" Circumference

i would use what 2 on each side and how would the tension calculate out?

I have no idea what the tension would equal - personally after having used them I'd hold out for the others. Ironwoody is actually having a sale, but I like the jumpstretch bands better. Elite was having a sale on them as well, but I'm not sure it they still are.

That band is between a Monster Mini (1/2" thick) and a Light Band (1 1/8"), so depending how you hook them up, one per side would anywhere from 40 to 60lbs of tension at the top. I could be wrong.

yeah i might just wait and get the jumpstretch bands.

thats sounds about right, i wonder how you would measure the tension?

The thickness (not the width) is nowhere close to the jumpstretch bands. you'd have to use at least 2 per side.

Wait for elite to have another sale, the JS bands are usually on sale like once a month.

Just save your money and get a solid set of bands that you know will last and keep you safe. Imagine if you were squatting, and had 200lbs of band tension at the top, and one side SNAPPED. Yeah, that sounds like an injury to me.

I prefer the jump stretch bands too.

Just my 2 cents.

Get your bands from APT, use the discount code and pick up some free gear. The JS bands and Ironwoody are made of the exact same material, the only difference is that IW don't add the extra cost of coloring the latex.

The only problem with APT is that they don't have the band packs listed on their website. I would prefer to buy from them because they sponsor the sport, but I was just looking and the packs are gone. Anyone know if they are getting these back?
