Well, as with other members I have decided to start a new journal with the new year. I have another one in here that I stopped posting in consisting of my bulking meals. I'm about 4 weeks into my bulk, I started at 162 and in the morning I weight 171 and in the pm I weigh about 174-175. So as you can see my weight fluctuates during the day. My goal is to be around 185-190 then go on a cut. I am also in the 4th week of Bill Starr's 5x5 program. So far so good. This journal will consist of my workout progress and thoughts.

current lifts:

bench: 185 x 5
squat: 225 x 5
deadlift: 240 x 5

By May I want to have a 900lb total.

One of the main things I want to watch while doing this is alcohol. I'm in college so it's always a problem, and yes I am a drinker. However, this semester I'm going to try and stop binge drinking. Hope I can drink in moderation.

EDIT: I also plan to go on a cut as we get closer to spring. I'm planning on March 1st maybe? Any opinions? I need to rid myself of the lower abdominal fat I've gained during my bulk. Granted its not very much right now, but in 2 months it will be.

pretty good workout. everything was fairly easy except for the last rep benching. seemed like my form got a little out of wack.

again another solid workout. set a new pr deadlifting today, and it was relatively easy IMO. Time to pack on the cals, 190 should be here soon enough!

went skiing today at Hunter Mountain, NY. I will be going to the gym tomorrow morning. Hopefully if I workout early saturday, I will be fully rested come Monday night.

turned in a good performance in squats today. hit every lift and felt pretty good. also did weighted dips, bicep curls, and triceps extensions. i should be fully recovered for monday night's session. i will be starting week 6 of bill starr's 5x5 on monday!

another pretty good workout. the weights are starting to get pretty heavy and my last reps up on squat and bench were slow. I was contemplating whether to add carido to my routine but I decided against it. Instead I will decrease the amount of carbs I am taking in. I plan to get a majority of my carbs during the morning/lunch and just have a baked potato as my source for dinner. Hopefully this will decrease some of the belly fat I've gained during this bulk. I'm also stalling out at about 175 lbs. it's gonna be hard to gain more weight.

pretty solid workout. my squat form today was probably the best it has been all year, due to the fact that I wasn't lifting extremely heavy. Incline bench was a little harder than i expected. I think the angle of the bench was too steep, i'll have to adjust it next time. deadlifts again were pretty easy. i dunno what it is but i'm powering through them every week.

i'm also adding cardio on tuesdays and thursdays. the cardio will mainly be HIIT and be limited to 20 minutes. i will continue to eat clean and we'll see what happens.

I was pretty lightheaded and felt like puking, so i guess it worked. I'll be doing this on tuesdays and thursdays.

squatting today was pretty good, although I felt a little pull in my groin area. I don't think I stretched out enough, but still got all the weight up. I tried benching a little bit different today. For my warm-up sets I went with a little wider grip. My schools benches are also pretty high off the ground, so i decided to put plates under my feet to help drive with my legs and sustain my arch in my back. It definitely felt more comfortable and I was able to put up 195x3 pretty easily.

terrible workout. the gym was packed and I couldn't focus and get my work done. i missed 195x5 (couldn't even get up to get water because i would have lost my bench). it's all because of the damn ****ty football players that horde to the gym. i'm gonna ****in own on wed., and i'm not going to the gym in the afternoon anymore.

i also don't think i had enough complex carbs in my system b4 working out.

pretty good workout. I lost some of the body fat that was in my stomach these past two weeks, so it's time to up the cals again! My workout today was pretty good. My legs were a little tired for some reason, and still incline bench is getting pretty hard. I am almost convinced its the way my gym has the benches set up. I murdered deadlifts today too. I could probably do 275x5.

First rep on 245 didn't feel too good. I think my stance was too wide and I felt a little pull in my groin. I adjusted my stance closer and and the rest felt pretty good. Benching as moderately hard, but overall pretty good. I'm gonna eat a lot this weekend in hopes of benching 200x5 on monday.

well, finally stalled out on benching. I was able to get 200x4. I'd say I'm pretty close to getting it. Squatting and Rowing worked out pretty well. Also why I was benching I tweaked my middle back a little bit somehow, it shouldn't be a problem. Just felt a little weird. I am going to stay at this current benching split until i get 200x5. Hopefully I will get it next monday. I will also be upping the cals this week.
