New here to the forums, I actually followed 275er and Petethe Greek here from another board as the other board was really not a good place for powerlifting info as they were the only powerlifters there with maybe one other person, and myself who really just got into it a few months ago. I can already see much more activity here and thats cool. I have also actually seen a few journals from people I met at an East End Barbell meet back in December, so hello to John and the crew.
anyway, what you will see in this journal is pretty unorthodox as far as powerlifting goes. I train at home by myself right now, so a lot of the hardcore stuff is out of my grasp for now, so I try to incorporate different ideas into what I can and can't do. Right now, I am doing a lot of reading on Doug Hepburn's routines, and they seem to be solid and simple, which is good for me right now. All singles, ranging in sets from 4-10 per workout. work up to 10 singles, then up the weight and go back to 4. Simple right? When it stalls, go to doubles, when doubles stall, go to triples, then back to singles. I had some success with lots of sub max singles for my meet, so I figured why not.
Here are my most recent numbers from the meet back in december, all done raw with just a belt.
squat-a pathetic 385
bench-an almost equally pathetic 335
dealift-a respectable 520
and off we go....
