3 or 1 rm on max effort bench... when do you use one of them and for which goals ? specially for raw benching ...

well if its a max your looking for i think it should be one that would be the maximum amount of weight you could move! i also like heavy azz triples too know what im saying.
when you go for heavy trips, how many sets are usually recommended?

triples are preferred. doubles are ok but all out heavy singles and your just asking for injuries

I personally like doubles, I have been having great progress with them.
It's also a probability thing...
The probability of you hitting a a weight you can only handle once over and over is much lower than the probability of hitting a weight you can only handle for 3 reps over and over (assuming you have done it).
A 3 rep max seems more assuring to me during training.
