Has anyone heard of this? I know Biotest has a product on the market called Myostat. Can anyone tell me is this a bunch of hype?

Myostatin deactivation has been tested with success on rats, cows, etc. , but it has not been found to work on healthy humans. Scientists are working on ways to deactivate this protein in humans with muscle wasting diseases. It is too early to tell and the supplement companies are just hype. Think of it like this- If you block your myostatin gene, how will you turn it back on? You will keep growing uncontrollably.

What if the substance that blocked the gene cleared out of the system?

Not uncontrollably. There are other mechanisms for controlling growth. You'd be a hell of a lot bigger though.
The animal studies were done by punching out the gene in the animals.
As of right now, I'm not sure how effective if at all the myostatin blocker will be. Needless to say, I'm not going to buy any of it.
