How do they work? I mean is it all stored as fat? I have really no clue (as you can tell) about them.

Thanks in advance!

Weight gainers are high calorie shakes that are generally made up of carbohydrate, fat, and protein sources. There is so much variation amongst brands that it is hard to tell you how effective something will be without a specific product in mind. Some "weight gainers" can cause you to gain a lot of fat while others are balanced meal replacement supplements.

Basically they should be used to add in additional calories and protein for someone who is looking to increase mass.

One of the most popular ones on this board is a product called Maximus by AtLarge Nutrition. It has a good balance of high quality protein, fiber, low suger, flax seed, microlactin, and some vitamins & minerals. Many people have had great success with this product including myself. www.atlargenutrition.com for more information.
