I have been lifting for about two years and since my results have started to slow, I am looking to start using creatine. I searched the site and found that most of you prefer Creatine Mono. Is there a certain brand of it or is just any kind okay?

Also, would it be best to take it before or after my workout? And should I take it on my non workout days, too?

Thanks!

See the sticky at top in all caps that says "READ BEFORE YOU POST ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT CREATINE!"

How about you start there.

Ive used creatine mono from gnc for a few weeks and ive used Atlarge nutritions Results. I definetly had better results from using results in the same time frame.

Thanks for the responses.

I checked out Results and it's a little pricey. For 35 dollars more, is it really that much better than the Creatine 500 they sell? The Creatine 500 was a lot cheaper for triple the servings.

I have been taking Creatine 500 mixed with 8oz grape juice for about 2 months now and I'm very happy with it for the price. I couldn't afford Results either.

I go with BodyTech (vitamin shop brand) Creatine Monohydrate. Take it post workout, sometime during your post workout meal. Your greatest obsorbtion rate should be post workout. Be careful that you don't consume the creatine with anything acidic, like orange juice for example. Grape and apple are the best choice. Yes, take it on your rest days as well. I find 5g a day to be just right for me. I also do not believe in loading. Keep yourself well hydrated. You may find this a bit tough while taking creatine monohydrate, it tends to dry you out.

and what happens if you take it with something acidic? I take my mono with orange juice almost every time.

I have read in some places that stomach acid breaks creatine apart, although I don't have any idea if that's true or not. I'm assuming that's what he's referring to. Even so, there seems to be little difference between the acidity of grape juice and that of orange juice, so don't worry about it.

Taking creatine with orange juice is the biggest amateur move there is sorry to say. the acids found in orange juice eat away at the creatine, making them extremely useless. the best thing to take creatine with is grape juice or water, NEVER orange juice.

i take CreaPure by Prolab. CreaPure is the purest form of creatine and is said to be much better than both of the other types of creatines on the market. Prolab makes one that is tasty and one that is tasteless basically and I mix the tasteless one with my protein postworkout.

Its also pretty cheap compared to the more out-there brand names that do nothing.

i dont know how good results is but i wouldnt wanna spend the money when prolab is so good and creapure is so amazing (IMO).

I am not sure so much carbonation, but to take it with a high carbohydrate juice is better then water. Thats why the label of most creatine bottles recommend apple or grape juice.

What do you think happens in your stomach exactly?
pH of orange juice ~3-4
pH of stomach acid ~1.

As stated by Mecuryblade. Your stomach acid is much more acidic than OJ.

LOL though that you think its the biggest amateur move.

Just dump the scoop in your mouth and then down some OJ or whatever you like

AtLarge Nutrition's Creatine 500 is CreaPure. Same stuff. Read the label.

RESULTS is more that just a creatine supplement. Its creatine, dextrose and HMB. Its an ergogen (sp) not just creatine.
