I am competing this coming weekend in South Carolina. This is a heavy two day event with 15 total competitors and 6 professional strongmen coming out. Will be the second lightest competitor in the field but most of the events are fairly good for me with the exception of the farmers walk and the load for height (since I am short and have small hands).

Here is the info on the event:

Thanks guys.

Drove up to Charlotte yesterday, took me 11 hours from Fort Lauderdale and I have to say I am freezing!

Looking forward to the contest this weekend, will get some video to post up if I can.

So they changed pretty much every event, still managed a couple of PR's and was a good contest. Weighed in at about 225 lbs.

Day One:

Log Press for Max: (Rising Bar)
240 lbs - good lift
260 lbs - good lift
280 lbs - good lift
300 lbs - good lift (Contest PR)
320 lbs - Just missed, had it locked but feet were not stable.

Farmers Hold for Time:
310 lbs Each Hand - 18.xx Seconds - PR. Wish we could have walked with these.

Yoke / Keg Carry Medley:
770 lbs Yoke x 70 feet, 200 lbs keg carry 50 feet, 250 keg carry 30 feet - Finished in just over 50 seconds, could have been faster on my transitions but everything felt good.

Day Two:

Axle Press for Reps: (Clean Once)
255 lbs x 10 reps - PR, hit this in 30 seconds and put it down... should have kept it up because I missed the clean when I went for more at the end.

Sled Drag & Load:
Williams Strength Sled + 45 lbs, load 200 lbs keg at 20 feet, load 250 lbs keg at 40 feet... 60 foot total course - Finished in a time around 25 seconds.

Atlas Stone for Height:
300 lbs to 52"
300 lbs to 56"
300 lbs to 60"
300 lbs to 64" - PR, took everything I had
300 lbs x miss to 68", was fairly close - might have been good to 66"

This was competing against HW competitors so was mainly just to find out where I stand. Did not place top 3 but had a good contest and know what I need to work on for this year. Am excited to get out and compete again.

Have video of the events and will post it up this week.

Good stuff! Now we need to get you in the 250+ lbs range in body weight and see what you can do.

Good stuff! Now we need to get you in the 250+ lbs range in body weight and see what you can do.

Many of the top LW's do cut from around 245 lbs to make weight at 231.5 for contests - and I am always well under the weight cutoff. Would be great to bulk to around 235 lbs and use that extra mass to help with my static strength and recovery abilities... might have to order up some more Maximus :)
