I want to structure a diet, and was wondering what the best meal replacement bar on the market would be for a healthy weight loss diet. I know that a lot of you will say it's not even necassary to take one, but I want to. I was trying to put together a diet and was failing to meet the calorie minimum. It's like 1100 cals right? So I want to throw a bar in for more calories, protien, etc. So what would you all say is the best one? And would a normal protien bar be just as good, better, not as good? Let me know.

This is a side note and is not as important a guestion, but I still want some input on it. What would you all say is the most popular weightloss pill out there? I know that popularity doesn't make it good, I just want to know. I think maybe Hydroxycut. It's old, and it's burned into peoples minds.

Your best bet would be to make your own bars.

A mixture of oatmeal, egg whites, and protein powder on a flat tray and bake it then cut into squares. You can add natural peanut butter, splenda, etc. for desired taste.

AS far as on the market bars, make sure to check the nutritional data on teh package, some of those are loaded with saturated fat. I'd make my own. I use this recipe: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/protein-bars-recipe/index.html

Thanks, I never really thought of making my own.

You can actually get even easier than that recipe.

In a mixer, put in a jar of all natural PB, 12 scoops of your favorite protein powder, and then drizzle honey in until it is the consistency of cookie dough. Roll into 1.5" balls, place in an airtight container and put in the freezer or fridge. Goooooood stuff!

1/2 of the one you are currently eating.
