I followed Ed Coan's deadlift program, and it got my deadlift from 470 to 505 in 10 weeks. I remember I could barely hold onto 470 with my weak grip, and it took about good 5 seconds to lock it out so it's definately a huge PR for me. I had to put my lower back and hamstrings through hell, but it was definately worth it, and I recommend everybody to give this program a shot. I have to say, I was a bit skeptical at first, and kind of doubted myself whether if I could complete it. (I put my desired max as 505 and wasn't really sure if I could pull that much at the end) I just made sure nothing was done halfassed, and I put my 100% into it (with a stopwatch so that every second counted)

My stance is kind of narrow to be true sumo, but that is the most comfortable stance for me & that's just how I like to pull. I'm just really excited I got to kill two birds with one stone (+500 DL and +3xBW DL have been my goals I was aiming for quite some time)

Anyways, here's my video:
45, 45, 45, 45, 35, 10 lbs plates on each side, the bar weighs 55 lbs.

When you pull over 500 lbs, you are allowed to do curls when you want.
Now I can start doing some curls... :D

Thank you guys. Yea, it's a good program. It just put so much stress on my body not only physically but mentally since 10 weeks worth of progress is written down on a piece of paper, and I wasn't sure if that was a realistic goal. Now that I'm done with it, I feel so much better. My lower back hasn't been feeling good so I'm going to take a break from pulling for a while.

Thanks. I put my hands on the smooth part. I know some people like to put some of their fingers on the knurling to make sure their hands don't slip, but I really didn't like it.

Nice work! And have fun with those curls... I am restricted for another few weeks or so. :bash:

I've tried it actually, but it hurts my deadlift more than it helps me. I feel like it's going to tear off my groin in half

Hey man great pull! I just have to Thank You. Because i never felt quit comfortable with the standard deadlift stance and grip outside your legs but wasnt quit comfortable with sumos either. Since watching your video (many times) i have almost replicated your stance, grip, and approach to the T. And it has worked wonders for me. Now if i could only replicate the weight you pull too haha. Im approaching 400 and will hopefully have a pull worth posting in the near future. Keep up the hard work and Thanks again.

Thank you! You won't see it in the video, but I put a little bit of chalk on my hands when I deadlift. Enough to secure my grip, but not enough to make a big mess. It helps a lot.

Haha thanks. I probably have one of the worst body structures for deadlifting, but it is my favorite lift so I just work extra hard to make up for that.

To me, the worst excuse is saying is how his body is not suited for a certain lift, so that's why it's affecting his lift and holding him back.

Thats inspiration right there. I have LONG arms for my height (5-8, 155lbs), and my DL is not up to par IMO (350x3) but I am over 300lbs in the bench, which I should struggle with. Go figure!

I feel you on the DL though, there is some sort of cave man type high from just pulling heavy weights off the floor. Its ******ed on paper isnt it?!

Thanks a lot. I think that was my maximum limit. I had to get jacked up so much just to get ready for that lift. I took a caffeine pill, drank no-xplode (got a sample pack in the mail so I just wanted to taste it) and had my friends slap all over me.. not the face though!

Great lift! I'm sure i'm simply echoing this but its truly inspiring to all of us.

When you ran Coans program what did you do for your other lifts each week? IIRC many people have said that his DL routine is hell, up there with smolov on the puke factor. How do you feel your other lifts suffered/gained while working the routine?

It was very hard but I loved it. It's only once a week so it's not that bad. My bench and squat during this program stayed the same. This is what I did:

Day1 - Bench, work up to 1-3rm & heavy triceps and light shoulders
Day2 - Ed Coan DL
Day3 - Squat, work up to 3-5rm & lunges, heavy shoulders and abs

What do you usually end up repping for deadlifts? I'd like to see what someone who maxes at 505 reps so I can see if I should be close without actually trying right now.
