I lost a few pounds from being sick + i'm too skinny. I wanna work my way up to at least 205 or so in the next few weeks so I think I'm going to start doing high calorie shakes again. for ingredients I'm thinking...

cottage cheese
natty peanut butter
olive oil
cooked or uncooked oats
yogurt or milk or something
fruit for taste

I'm all out of whey currently.

for those that have done this in the past what do you use? i'm tempted to try at least once gregg valentino's "cake shake," though I don't think my bowels could take it lol.

and no I can't simply go out and buy mcdonalds every night of the week... for one I think my immune system has lost its resistance to the meaty goodness. I had a double quarter pounder with cheese and fries a few days ago + piece of birthday cake and woke up at 8 AM feeling nauseous LOL. (plus I don't always have my car).

I can't eat McDonald's anymore, it just does not sit well.
It sucks too because the dollar menu is cheap and a really easy way to slip in calories during bulking season.
Talking about McDonald's makes me want McDonald's right now, but I have to remind myself of how I always feel when I get done eating it.

Ice cream! Turns a protein shake into a real treat. Tons of calories, good amount of protein, but lots of fat.

You're right in that your odds of getting salmonella aren't that high with raw eggs, but there are plenty of other protein sources out there that don't carry the risk of vomitting and bloody diarrhea.

lol bloody diarrhea? first time i heard of that

umm i use to drink eggs ALOT.....there was a time where i was drink 2 big shakes (12 eggs daily, so six per shake) and i had never got any bad side effects besides the odd egg shell...it was through this time that i gained well...

shakes included:
6 eggs
2 teaspoons of Milo (i dunno if you yanks know what this is...i guess yous have BOSCO or something)
1 scoop vanilla ice cream
1/4 of cup of yoghurt

my old man used to box in the 70's and seeing as it was in the former eastern bloc countries, they didn't have "whey protein" so they got all their protein from eggs. In australia though, i buy these eggs directly from the farm so i guess they are pretty fresh...

When would be the best time to take one of these? Morning or before bed maybe? I'm going to try adding oats + ice cream to my whey - 1 cup of each?

Doesn't matter too much, I usually have mine right after my workout though. If you have a lot of sugar/carbs in your shake it'll cause an insulin spike, and "drive" the nutrients into your muscles. Again though, it doesn't matter much as opposed to your overall calorie intake.
