View Full Version : Ideas for a Good Shake/Smoothie Mix

hey again Mates
I had another question. What is a good blend of friuts, additives, etc. that makes a tasty, but effective, shake/smoothie. I have access to most any normal ingredients, and I use ProLab and GNC protein powder. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'd prefer something with like berries/banannas/etc. whateva tastes good, and worx :-)

1.5-2 scoops of your fave powder.
4 oz lowfat milk
5 grams glutamine powder
one tablespoon natty pb
5-6 ice cubes
Chuck it into blender in that order. Blend until ice is crushed. Cream.

Hey this was posted by Mac a short time back......
Anyways here is something I have been using,
2 cups tropical fruit juice(all natty)
40 grms carbs
2 5 ounce bannanas
60 odd carbs
200 grms frozen berries
2 scoops whey
34 grms(Designer Whey)
Falx oil:2 tble spoons (Omega 3&6 Blend)
Total Cals:902 cals
Keep the flax out if your using the smoothie for a postworkout shake.
To throw off the flax flavor which is barely detectable I would throw in some cyrstal light(kiwi bannana etc...)
Compared to a N Large ya can't beat the freshness and feeling of a cold friut smoothie.

12 oz crushed ice
16 oz milk
1-2 tbs natty peanut butter
1/3- 2/3 cup oats
1 scoop chocolate designer protein
Gonna go make one right now, this is my year round shake, I adjust the type of milk, and amount of oats and pb accordingly. I may add some glutamine when cutting...

Thanks alot for the ideas guys. Now that I have three recipes, I think its time to make a trip to GNC and the grocery store to try em out ;-)

Try beercans first. I think that would be the best and I would like to hear what it tastes like.

I'm gonna be away for a few days, but I plan on firing one of Beercan's shakes up as ssoon as I get back, I'll let ya know waht its like. I'm actually gonna make every one of the recipies on different days anf try em all out I think!!
I'll post my experience with all of em, as well as experiences and recipies that I pick up at the gym next week

Beercan's shake is similar to my first meal everyday. Main difference is its not a shake. I cook my oatmeal.
I normally cook 2/3 cup of oatmeal with 1 tbsp peanut butter + 1/2 tsp Cocoa Mix. Once its done cooking I pour in bowl and add 1 scp chocolate protein and put on a dab of milk. Its awesome tasting and depending on portion size, is great for bulking or cutting.

i just tried this the other day, very simple and very good.
2-3 scoops isopure vanilla protien
(i told u it was simple :)
p:50-75 c:24g f:1g
high protien, moderate carbs, low fat.

Here's my first breakfast most weekdays:
1 cup milk
1 apple or pear or plum or peach
1/2 cup blueberries or strawberries
1 tablespoon ground flax seeds
3 scoops Vanilla whey protein isolate

I tried BeerCan's, it tastes great, and goes down fairly well. Actually, i even felt pretty full after drinking a glass (about 600ml) of the stuff.
I also came across another idea for a recipe, and I really like the taste. Its a bit different tasting, but its definitely not unpleasant.
3/4 cup frozen fruit (melon, peches, berries, etc.)
1 tbps natty PB
2 scoops vanilla whey (I used ProLab, but whateva)
2 cups orange juice
Its a bit different, and might be a good alternative fro some ppl that are sick of the asme old taste.

Another variation of BeerCans shake could be to use vanilla whey and 1 tbsp of cocoa. I jsut ran outta chocolate whey, and thought I'd try this variation out, and its delicious!!!!

bro try the isopure with apples!!!! it tastes a little like beer but other then that it rules!!!! :)
