View Full Version : Protein Powerders?
I'm using a soy based powder right now but I've read that whey is the better choice. I was at Trader Joes yesterday and saw a 1 pound container of whey protein powder for around $11 and, since I'm kinda cheap, I was wondering if anyone's tried this, or what everyone else uses who's trying to save a few bucks.

You can get 5lbs of Whey at Walmart for about $34. Ditch the soy, soy sucks.

Dlew - what kind of goals do you have?
Most people prefer whey protein as it breaks down quickly and is great for post-workout nutrition.
Trader Joes does have some good deals, do you recall what brand protein powder you were looking at?
If you are going to be drinking shakes on a daily basis a 1 lb container will not last very long.

Just trying to build a bit of muscle and lose some fat. I'm pretty new to weight lifting and started SS about a month ago.

I'd get away from soy based protein and get a whey protein if nothing else. Soy has had mixed reviews, and with so many proven options, I tend to leave it. I use Optimum Nutrition 100% whey. I get a 10lb. bag for about $70. Mixes good and the taste is good. Any whey from a reputable company will most likely be just as effective though.
