why cant you take glutamine while bulking?
I haven't heard that one yet.

If you want to be a long distance runner, it may not at all be compatible with your gaining of weight. I used to run excessively and after putting on about 25 lbs, stopping the cardio and focussing on weight training, the extra weight made it much harder to run upon my return to the exercise. You dont have that light bouncy feeling that you do when you have a light frame without the extra upper body weight.

You may not be able to really be a body builder if you want to maintain serious long distance running training. I personally prefer consuming amino acids during the months consisting of high levels of cardio.

I drink glutamine and BCAAs during weight training.

do you notice a difference when you take bcca's as opposed to when you dont? ive been told not to bother w/them but theyre cheap enough that ill give it a try.

yes i do feel that taking them during the workout makes a difference for me. I drink them in a litre container of water and space it throughout the workout. If you are training with intensity you are sweating and it seems sensible to me to put this in the water as I assume that the uptake of fluids is increased whilst providing your muscles with some immediate sustainence.

maybe it is all in my head, but I do notice a favourable difference so I just keep doing it.

I would say you don't need to use any glutamine. If you can make sure that you have taken in a good portion of carbs before you run...not right before you run, but where there has been time for digestion then this will fuel you for a while during your run.

There also are these gel packs that are basically fast digesting carbs that are made for long distance runners to keep their energy levels up. This will re-fuel you whilst running.

Other than that, I'd just say make sure you raise protein intake and overall caloric intake in order to preserve your existing mass and to facilitate adding mass.
