View Full Version : Reverse band squats

Does anyone do these? I feel like they would be wicked dangerous but I kinda wanna try them out. I usually only see people doing reverse band deads/bench.
Unlike with bench you don't have a spotter, and your not just dropping the weight ilke deadlifts. I feel like your ascent might be kind of weird do, easy to misgroove it...

They are a great movement. The grove is a bit different.

I do them and love them. They are great for getting used to heavier weights on your shoulders.
1-0-7 just did them on Monday. They do have a little bit different groove, especially if you can't get the bands right above where the bar is/going to be. But it is no more 'dangerous' than a normal squat. Have pins set up and spotters to help if need be. Its kind of like squatting with chains. it gets lighter at the bottom, heavier at the top. Check my log for the video if you want.

I love them, and they will let you get use to heavier weights.
