Good thing proteins have different processing rates so you can eat a lot more of it with your body absorbing it through out the day.

BS. Sorry, but my 300lb body has to process things differently then the average 175 lber who they use for these studies.

Does this make any sense to you OP? I mean, does this hold true for carbs and fats? Can I eat a gallon of ice cream and only process 25 grams of carbs and 25 grams of fat?

Don't believe everything you hear, especially from people at the gym.

You have a cite/source for that statement? Didn't think so....

Not only are you an idiot, but you're also lazy. (http://wannabebigforums.com/showthread.php?t=120169)

What a statement. So age, gender, height, weight and metabolic rate dont matter? A 250lb guy and a 110lb girl can both only process 25g of protein every 2 hours?

There are no studies.

False

False

The way this works is that if you know of something that exists, you provide evidence of it. Please link to a study that applies in this situation.

The truth is that they really don't exist.

So here is my question then.

When is someone going to belly up to the bar and do a study of this for their thesis? They would put to rest this age-old debate once and for all.

Anybody game?

Do a search on something like PubMed and you'll find tons of studies on it.

Most seem to suggest you can absorb more than 25g at once for sure

I'm of the opinion that it doesn't make any sense that your body can only absorb a certain amount of protein at one setting. Just as one one poster noted above, your body certainly doesn't discriminate when it comes to carbs and fats. The difference is that those two are stored on the body, whereas protein is not.

Well I guess the theory is that 25g is roughly the amount for someone that's 175lbs if they are eating all fast-digesting protein. Any excess just gets converted to sugar and then stored as fat...

I'm not sure if this is true or not, but it's not overly relevant because usually you'll eat multiple forms of protein that digest at different rates.
