A year ago I would have never believed that I'd be squatting what I am now, but I squatted 500 pounds tonight. Woohoo, it's only a 5 pound PR, but it's a big milestone ( at least to me ).

Squatting heavy for the first time after the meet I had really made me miss the monolift though. I bet I would have squatted 550 tonight with a monolift. I think I need to rethink my squat goal for the meet next month.

That is a good squat for just one year of squatting! Hey, it doesnt matter if its a 5lb PR or a 50lb PR, as long as you keep getting stronger.

Great job, BTO! I've never had the opportunity for a monolift and working out a Ballys, no one but me would have cause to use one, so you know they'll never get one. Oh well.

Nice job BTO. I can't wait for the meet in April. I think that the two of us are going to be pretty close in terms of our overall numbers. Maybe we should have some sort of friendly competition to help with motivation. I am looking forward to this weekend, it has nearly been a month since the last time we have lifted together. You keep getting stronger and I keep getting weaker. See you Saturday.

Good job. You should blow that number out of the water as you learn your suit better and squat in a manner more conducive to your height.

Thanks everybody. It feels really good to realize you're making progress by hitting a new PR ( especially when it's a multiple of 100, or another 45 ).

Good job. You should blow that number out of the water as you learn (snip) [to] squat in a manner more conducive to your height.

I'm not really sure exactly what you mean by this. What manner of squatting is conducive to my height? I currently haven't really worked on my squat technique all that much. I don't think my technique is bad, but I'm not sure how a tall person *should* squat. Please explain what you mean, I'd appreciate any information ( I want to squat MORE, lol )

Thanks Mike. Sounds good to me. You really need to think about coming to squat with us on Monday night. Last night was great, all the regular Monday night guys were there, all squatting 500+. It was awesome, like saturday morning but for squatting.

I'm looking forward to saturday as well, but I doubt you're getting weaker ( unless you've cut weight like you said you were going to :) ). Actually my weight is down, I was sick last week and lost 9 pounds just on Friday. I keep telling myself it was just water weight, but I still haven't gained it back yet. At least it didn't hurt my squatting last night.

Ox, I still think widening your stance and sitting back even more than you do now will help your numbers sky rocket.

I do know you have mentioned hip issues previously with a wide stance though.
