Nice farmers handles!
I really like the ones made out of pipe; might take some time to get them to have a good grip though since the paint can be slick.

How did you make these? Did you find the plans online, because I have seen them somewhere, I just can't remember where.

P.S. those are sweet

Get a can of spray on Truck Bed Liner to spray the handles with. It'll cost you about 5 bucks and when dried it'll be like a rubberized coat on the handles.

You can do what Travis said if you are looking for training handles. If you want to emulate strongman competition, I would honestly just leave them outside for a few days and once they weather a little bit the grip will improve. Brand new handles are always tougher than the ones with a little bit or "character" or rust on them.
Either way you should be fine with those, it will just build your grip that much stronger if they are slick :)

Or wrap them in the stuff they wrap tennis racket handles with. You can get that at any sports store...hell, even walmart.
