View Full Version : My Road to Who Knows Where???

04-10-2002, 11:20 PM
Well, I've decided to begin keeping a journal early. I've been
second guessing myself for a while now and have pulled out of
my July 14 show :( . So there will be no more dieting happening.
I'm down to around 186 at 9 percent bf. This will be the starting
point for my journal.

Quads and Biceps: My lower back has been bothering me as of
late, so I'm taking it easy with squats for now.

Squats: (ATF as usual)
135x8 Warmup

Old school 60 degree hack squat (ATF)

Leg Extensions:

Zercher Squats:

Straight BB curls:

Seated DB curls (Triset)
15 pound DB's simultaneously curled for 20 reps leading directly
into 25 pound DB's alternately curled until failure, finishing with
15 pound DB's simulatneously to failure.

That was about it for my workout, I was pretty much shot after quads, so the bicep workout wasn't worth much. But the zerchers get them nicely anyhow. I was running on only 6 hours of sleep (usually get minimum of 9) so things felt a little draggy. All in all, a decent quad workout.

Took in approximately 4400 calories today as well.

Zerchers get your bis? How are you doing them? Even when I'm using 405, my biceps ain't doing much. God knows if I was relying much on them, the bar would be on the floor. lol.

Good to see you're starting a journal, by the way. :)

They get my biceps just from the static hold. I'm a guy who went a year and a half without training my biceps, you'd be surprised what gets them sore now that I'm making it a priority to train them.

BCC, welcome to the journal forum.

 Thanks

Cool youre keeping a journal. Nice Squat dude. :strong: Laterz.

04-11-2002, 02:33 PM

Taking the day off, I've trained 3 days on, so I'm due for
a break. My quads and ass are killing me today. My triceps
are sore from Monday and my back is sore from Tuesday.
So it's definately a day to rest. Off day, so I'm looking to
do 4100 calories.

04-12-2002, 11:31 PM

Light workout today, my quads and ass are still so sore from Wednesday, I can barely walk.

Hamstrings and Calves

Seated Hammer Leg Curl:

SLDL: Real light today, cause my ass is sooore

Standing one legged curl:

Calve extensions on Leg Press:

Donkey Calve Raises:

Also, I was looking at pictures of Teen competitors in Bodybuilding
competitions and the sight of all their girly little quads has
brought back my competitive edge, so I am going to participate
in the July 14th show I recently pulled out of

ahhh...I haven't been keeping up on this very well...my training has been coming along excellent though. My show is in about 10 and a half weeks. I'm going to start dieting about 8 weeks before it. Lately I've just been hammering away at my weaker parts. For the past month I've been nailing my delts every two days, I've about got them balanced with my traps now. So all is going well, I'll try to keep this thing more up to date.

Damn that's a huge ass tv.

You're looking huge as well good for you.

05-12-2002, 11:38 PM
Ahh...back to my journal. I'm starting my diet tomorrow to prepare
for contest. For the first few weeks I'm going to cycle through
days, low carb (150 grams), moderate (250 grams), high
(400 grams.) On all of these days my protein intake will remain at
370 grams. I'll go through the days low, moderate, high,
moderate, low, moderate, high, and ect..ect.. This will just be a
jump start to my metabolism (not that it really needs it the way
it goes.) No cardio to start with, I'm definately not a fan of it for
more reasons than one. I just don't believe it's necessary.
So tomorrow I'll be shooting for 150g of carbs. 370g protein.
After a couple weeks of this I'll post some pictures. I'm 188 right
now. I figure I'll drop weight quick these first couple weeks with
the diet change. I'm excited to see how it goes. I'll keep
everyone posted.

Yeah man keep us all posted bro! Youre looking massive in your pics seriously I cant wait to see how you do in the July 14th competition. Good luck with it! I am sure youll tear it up. Awesome overall physique. Traps are really a strongpoint.:cool:

... This gives me inspiration to lose a few more pounds before summer. Right now I am around 199 lbs. with a little bodyfat. Youre at 188 still looking big.

Chasey, do you have the proper sized version of your avatar anywhere? I'd like to see it.

05-13-2002, 12:22 PM

What are you eating for fats? Are you changing those up along with the carbs?

Good luck

05-13-2002, 06:19 PM

Good luck

Most of my fat comes from Olive oil, chicken, and Udo's Oil which I take (It has a bunch of essential fats in it.) My fat intake is staying high along with my protein intake.

As for the avatar, here's a picture of it.

You should put your stats in your signature BigChaseyChase, like mine. :):)

Good Luck in your July show. What is the name of the contest? I

05-14-2002, 04:26 PM
It's part of our Three Rivers Festival here. It's called Midwestern States Bodybuilding Championships. It's a national NPC qualifying event. I was wrong, it's July 13.

05-14-2002, 11:01 PM
Diet went excellent today. It was a moderate carb day. I ate 370 grams of protein, and 251 grams of carbs. Ate exactly a pound and a half of chicken. Chicken will become my best friend it seems.

Yesterday was a low day. I ate exactly 370 grams of protein, same as today. Then 162 grams of carbs. A little higher than I wanted (would have preferred 150,) I've gotta pick up some skim milk instead of this Vitamin D stuff I've been drinking.

05-15-2002, 04:10 PM
High carb day today. 400 carbs, 370 grams of protein.

I did legs today, (actually trained hamstrings with quads for once.) Nothing spectacular, but I did stiff leg 365 for 5 solid reps on a platform with my knuckles all the way to my shoes.

05-15-2002, 08:58 PM
:eek: Why so much protein man? 370g!?

05-15-2002, 11:25 PM
I'm going to keep my protein at 370 for probably the next 4 weeks, to help preserve as much muscle as possible, and fluctuate my carbs. This way, I can still build a little muscle while dieting down.

05-15-2002, 11:40 PM
You don't need your protein that high to maintain your muscle. As long as your carbs don't drop too low, muscle should maintain quite well.

05-16-2002, 09:19 PM
I didn't train today. I'm gonna do back tomorrow, but my diet was right on target for the day. 370 grams of protein, 240 grams of carbs. I've lost 6 pounds since monday dieting this way. Mainly water due to the lack of carbs.

06-12-2002, 01:23 PM
Wow..I haven't updated this for a while due to my dieting and training. I'm down to 176 now, still 4 weeks out from competition. I'll try to get some pictures up soon. I trained quads yesterday, I'm still retaining a lot of my strength.

Front Squats
135x10; 185x8; 225x8; 270x5, 315x2. On the set of 315 they felt real solid, when I went down for the third rep I got off center in the rack and one side of the weight came crashing down on the catch, so I ditched that one. All of these were done ATF. This was the first time I've front squatted free weight in a long long time, it felt great to get back into it. My co-worker did 405x6 ATF and got me motivated into doing them.

45 Degree Hack Squats
1 plate x 12; 2 plates x 12; 3 plates x 12. These all felt like crap, I think I'm going to give up on these, whenever I get in the position I want and take it all the way down I always end up hitting bottom.

I decided to do some singles ATF with no rest inbetween except for the changing of the weight.
225x1; 275x1; 315x1; 350x1. Then I put 225 on, 6 seconds on the way down, with a 5 second pause rock bottom, then bringing it up explosively for 15 reps.

105 pound barbell lunges for 60 yards to finish things off, always one foot after another.

Hows things going? from what ive read and seen of you so far phenominal! just keep going and great things will be on the horizon
