View Full Version : ME Floor presses - worked up to 390

Haven't done floor presses in a while. I sometimes do them with no leg drive, and sometimes with leg drive. Today I used minimal leg drive until the weights got tough, then kicked the legs in a bit. I tried a 405 and stalled a little off the chest, I feel like I should be able to hit that weight, but it just didn't go today.

wow impressive lifts. I've always wondered, what muscle do floor presses primarily target? Tris?

I'd say as far as muscle groups it's the same as bench press; chest, tris, shoulders, lats. The main difference is that it forces you to control (can't bounce your elbows of the floor without hurting yourself) the weight; and like box squatting it break eccentric from concentric forcing you to overcome the weight without momentum.

Do you feel that using the legs on floor press is kinda worthless? I've done them with leg drive and with straight legs and keep records of each, do you just feel there is no benefit to the leg drive version?

Nah, I still put my feet on the floor. I don't like straight leg, but it boils down to preference. don't feel that one way or the other makes it more or less effective
You just have to keep your butt down on the floor is all.
