They do have a nice source of protein in it, but I eat them mainly for their high fibre. Not 100% sure though.

heres a list of protien rating. eggs have the highest quality protein, so their used for comparison.

FOOD PROTEIN RATING
eggs 100
fish 70
lean beef 69
milk 60
brown rice 57
whte rice 56
soybeans 47
whole-grain wheat 44
peanuts 43
dry beans 34
white potato 34

this is all based on the availabe amno acids prsent in any given food. eggs for example will provide you with the most. you can also mix and match foods to get your protein value up to where eggs are. for example: rice and beans will yeild a pretty complete serving of protein. hope this helps!!

Yeah, beans are not a complete protein, so eat them with something else to complete the deal, but other than soy, any protein is good protein.

Thanks for all your help. In your list what rating do baked beans have?

they will have the same rating as dried beans from which they are made

I dont think so. Baked beans contains molasses, bacon, sugars, maple surups and all kinds of other ingredients. I highly doubt that baked beans has the same GI as dry beans.

I don't think beans can be considered a high protein food, but they do have some protein. Check the label.

Just don't eat them as a pre-workout meal before squatting...unless you want the place all to yourself.

baked beans are a complex carb very little protein and its an incomplete protein at that...use them as a carb when bulking but dont use it as a source of protein the little protein it has is a plant protein

All so to watch out because most of the canned baked beans are packed full of sugar. Some brands have about 30g of sugar per serving, so just read the labels.

some sources of protein are more complete than others.
For example, tofu is not the same a beef protein.
Some amino acids are lacking.
