Or just make a 12 in box and get 1 inch board or mats to adjust to different heights...a box will take a bit to make, no reason to make more than 1

I made four that are about 5 3/4" high. Mine are duel purpose for pull boxes as well.
I used two 4x4 pieces 2 foot long and laid them this way: I I.
Then four 2 foot pieces of 2x4 laid perpendicular on top of that (Think two = signs on top of each other).
Then a piece of 3/4" plywood 2'x2' on top.
Now for the pull boxes, on two of these I put a piece of 1/2" x 1" along two opposite sides as the top of pulling boxes (so the weight doesn't roll off).
These are a little under 6 inches but I can use the two with the strips as 6 inch pulling boxes or put the other two under them and pull off of 12 inch boxes. Then for box squats I can stack two boxes and just use rubber mats to make up the space I need. I have four 2'x2' rubber mats 3/4" thick from the left over mat when I built my platform.
For this I used two 8 foot 4x4s, four 8 foot 2x4s, 4'x4' of 3/4" plywood and then for the strips on the pull boxes a 8 foot furring strip. Then rubber horse mats cut up, the same as used to build a home platform.

Pretty simple. I made mine look nice by adding some half inch foam to the top that I had left from the floor in my gym too.
