Hi all.
I have a question regarding fast/slow obsorbing proteins.
When should one consume each type?

The easiest and usually the cheapest way out is to use a blend, like AtLarge's Nitrean.
Check it out:

This way you don't have to buy multiple jugs of protein and measure out some of each, yadda yadda. Nitrean works great post workout, before bed, upon waking, and any meal of the day.
It gives your body a steady stream of amino acids with a much more optimal absorption rate that a whey only product.

Try ON Nitro 24, good blend of slow and fast releasing proteins. Taste is good too.

just buy bulk whey protein and then when you need slow absorption (like at night) add a spoon of natural peanut butter to the shake.
for PWO nutrition try: 50g dextrose, 50g whey, 5g creatine, 5g beta alanine, skim milk, blueberries or strawberries for flavor/vitamins.

You have to look at the macros on these as well, Syntha 6 is relatively high in fat (when compared to other shakes) and also contains 14 grams of carbohydrates for every 22 grams of protein - which is a very poor ratio. It could possibly be used for meal replacement but you would have to double up the scoops and then you are getting 12 grams of fat, 28 grams carbs, 44 grams protein. There are many better options out there.
Protein blends are most effective for meal replacement and bedtime. For post-workout whey isolates work best.
One thing to be considered - egg and casien are just like whey in that there are different forms such as concentrate and isolate. Make sure that you are not shopping simply based on price or you may be disappointed.

again, hate to push Gnc but i actualyl went to the store this week for their big sale (no g-card needed this time) they had these Mega Mrp Extreme or some ****e like that 3lb jugs (14 servings 300cals 56g protein so just divide in half 28g 150cals 28 servings) they were clearing them out to make way for a new product $9 each! i bought a bunch. Its a mix of whey and caseinate mostly whey. But the amino acid's and other nutrients are really jacked up because its an mrp.

Did you check the expiration date? They generally put their expired products on closeout there. Many other stores (Vitamin Shoppe, Food Stores, etc.) refuse to sell expired goods.

oh i checked, its good till november the reason its cheap is they have this new AMP (cant think of a funny way to expensive crap with AMP) brand of MRP packs so they have to get rid of the old Pro Performance versions. I might guess that all GNC's would be offloading these jugs. Sometimes GNC because some GNC's do such horrible business theyre good to check out for clearances.
