So I just started my next cycle of creatine monohydrate (creapure) and I've been told to take it with dextrose. I'm going to get on that but I was wondering what exactly does Dextrose do? I was under the impression that it converts carbs into energy but I think i'm wrong..

Dextrose is a simple sugar. When you take in fast digesting carbohydrates your insulin levels spike which in turn allows your body to utilize more nutrients.

Nutrient timing is one of the key factors in an effective supplement program / diet.
