The main supplements I have started using is At Large Nutrition products, but as an addition was just curious if anybody uses any of the Animal products from Universal?

I know a few people who use the Animal Pack as a multi-vitamin, but that is about it for Universal.

It seems like they try to include very small concentrations of a ton of different compounds in an effort to make you think that you are actually getting a full dose of all of those substances. Their Animal Snak bars taste alright but are loaded with sugar, and their powders are OK - not up to par with a lot of the other big companies though. I have tried their BCAA powder and it tasted good, similar to Scivation Xtend.

Basically the multi (Animal Pak) would be the only thing that I would consider taking from their line, and I am pretty sure that it is also their best seller.

If the label lists a "proprietary blend" without the amounts of each ingredient I wouldn't trust it.

Have you had a bad experience with their products?

I would guess it's not so much a bad experience as much as their supplements are greatly exaggerated.

Probably not quite to the degree of Muscle Tech, but in that general direction

My GF used to work at GNC and from time to time she would bring home some supplements that are about to expire or go out of date. I've tried two of Universal's product - Animal Cut and Animal Pak

Animal Cut is your basic fat loss supplement with a diuretic in it. I took the recomended dosage and it really dried me out quite bad, even when I tried to drink water all the time. My knuckles got all crusty and stuff. I did lose some fat, but this was also during the time that I tried Carb Cycling based on Shelby Starnes' articles for about 5 weeks.

Animal Pak - I really don't like it. First, there are a ton of pills and some are so gigantic that they are hard to swallow by themselves (IMO). It becomes aggravating to have to down all of those pills each morning. And I question their dosage recomendations, they tell you to take 2 packs a day (probably to get to your wallet). Anyways, I got rid of those and just bought a basic multi vitamin from costco/sams club.

I've taken Animal Pak. Still have some left actually. I don't mind that there are a lot of pills or that they are big. Doesn't bother me. Swallow them 2 a time and I'm done in no time. I feel some energy after taking them. More than I do off of a Men's One-A-Day. The price is steep though so I don't think I'll be getting them again.

I talked to an Animal rep and he gave me a free "Shut the **** Up and Train" shirt. Pretty cool considering they sell for $20 on the site.

Ryan owns a nutrition store, so he has a very good perspective on what supplements are effective and which ones are more "hype". He is also a national level strongman competitor.
