I had a nice Black & Decker one i LOVEd and didnt appreciate how good it was till it broke and i bought a regular model blender. I go through blenders like crazy, i gotta stop putting the ice in at the bottom it jams the blender and when it starts it spews things all over the place.

Anyways can anyone recommend a good strong somewhat cheap blender?

I actually had a Black & Decker and did not like it at all. Replaced it with an Oster brand blender and have been very pleased.

Target sells them and they range between $20-$40:

I would recommend one of the 12 speed ones for $40 with the glass container. Works great.

I have some Kitchen Aid one that is normally like $150, but someone returned it to Best Buy and I got it for $60

This one has lasted me the longest. Normally a blender will last me almost a year, but this one is going on two years strong.

Magic bullet is good because of the ease of use and cleaning. It has started to leak though so I dont really recommend it. The cups are a little small too.

I'm in the market for a new one too

I use a stick blender, I can crush ice and all kinds of frozen fruit. They're around $20 and way faster to clean...

I picked up an Oster blender at Target like Tom mentioned.
Think I spent about $30 on mine 4 years ago and it's still going strong and it's been used a lot.

I bought the Oster, but I don't throw in all the ice cubes and other fancy **** so I can't comment on how well it can really blend the tough stuff. But for just mixing milk and powder it's fine.

yeah thats my problem, the ice at the bottom usually jams teh blender. My old Black & Decker would bust right throught it but my new one wont. I forgot what brand it is. Im suprised their isnt a "weightlifters" model out there.

After I went through 3 <$50 blenders in about 4 years I bought this expensive one (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HWMRKC/ref=ox_ya_oh_product) and it's still like brand new after 2 years.

I also have the magic bullet mixer...cant go wrong with it :)

Blends my protein awesomely, even when its mixed with milk/bananas/yogurt. No clumping issues

ive got the bullet as well, not a fan..too small for me and its not that great for ice. Plus im used to adding things as i blend which cant be done with the bullet.. maybe they should make a bullet with cup that has a double sided opening.

Vita-Mix is the worlds greatest blender, it goes though ice like nothing - Expensive but worth it!! My favorite kitchen tool!
