View Full Version : Best Nutrition Practices - After Dinner/Before Bed?

Hi all,

I'm wondering..before bed..a few hours after dinner, should I be eating anything? I'll more likely starve b/c I eat at 5-6 and go to bed at 11ish. What would be the best food at 8-9PM that would not breakdown and turn in to fat while your sleeping? I've always been stumped on what to eat at night. Is there any slow burning non fat foods, high in protein?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

cottage cheese, a handful of nuts, berries.

I always eat 1 cup of cottage cheese and 30g of whey protein. Otherwise I feel like **** sleeping.

also, you seem to be operating under some misconceptions. Eating fat does not = getting fat. Gaining bodyfat is a function of total caloric intake vs caloric expenditure. Your brain and body needs fats to operate well, otherwise you will end up feeling like ****. Further, fats help slow down the breakdown of the proteins in a food, allowing them to be released even longer over the course of the night. So, high protein + high fat options are a good choice for the bedtime meal.
