Im still looking for a meet in a close distance for me to go to for my 1st meet. I was looking at 100% RAW - Old School Iron Wars in VT but noticed that curling is one of the lifts. I don't really curl maybe in between programs. I do not curl a lot maybe 150lbs max and feel this may not be the best meet for me. Right now I am on my second wave of 5/3/1 should I through curls in on an off day and go for it. Ir say screw it and train they way I do go and just see what happens?
here is the meet Im looking at its a combo of two feds AAU and APF

The Curl is generally just a lift that is offered - just because you enter full meet does not mean that you have to participate in the curl event.
You usually have to pay extra to enter the curl event also.

Thanks for the info guys. I think I will go ahead and enter. Which fed would be the best choice for me to enter in with for my 1st meet AAU or APF?

Dont forget that the SSA does a few meets a year just down the road from you. The one I am doing in Oct is only like 40-50 miles away from you.

how do they judge the curl? Is it very strict form that is required or is there some leeway? just curious...

It is a strict curl.
From the NASA website:
Strict Curl
1. The lifter shall face the front of the platform. The bar shall be held
horizontally across the thighs with the hands (palms outward) and fingers
gripping the bar and the feet flat on the platform with the knees locked and
arms fully extended.
Note: The staggering of the legs (one foot in front of the other) is allowed
as long as the knees are locked and feet are flat on the platform.
2. After removing the bar from the racks, the lifter must move backwards to
establish his position. The lifter shall wait in this position for the Chief
Referee's signal. The signal shall be given as soon as the lifter is
motionless and the bar properly positioned. The Chief Referee's signal shall
consist of an upward movement of the arm and the audible command "curl”.
3. Upon receiving the Chief Referee's signal, the lifter must bring the bar
up to the fully curled position (bar near chin or throat with palms facing
backward). The knees must remain locked and the shoulders square or back
throughout the entire lift.
4. On completion of the lift, the knees shall be locked in a straight
position and the shoulders square or back.
5. The legs and hips may not be used in any way for momentum to complete the
lift. Any thrusting of the legs or hips fore momentum is strictly forbidden.
6. The Chief Referee's signal shall consist of a downward movement of the
hand and the audible command "down." The signal will not be given until the
bar is held motionless and the lifter is in the apparent finished position.
7. When the lifter is motionless, the Chief Referee will give the signal to
replace the bar.
The signal to replace the bar will consist of a backward motion of the hand
and the audible command "rack."
8. Any rising of the bar or any deliberate attempt to do so will count as an
attempt.
9. The Lifter may, at the Chief Referee's discretion, be given an additional
attempt at the same weight if failure in an attempt was due to an error by
one or more of the spotter loaders.

You probably don't have to be so picky man. A first meet should be about learning the rules, getting a feel for the weigh ins, etc. Just because you're not lifting in the best federation ever doesn't mean you won't gain a lot from the experience.

Andre, there also another push-pull meet in Brattleboro, VT on October 17th. The federations for that one is 100% RAW, AAU and APF. It will be held at Supreme Fitness Center. That meet can be found at powerliftingwatch.com.
I will be competing in that one as well. Its about an hour from me!
