View Full Version : How many calories shold I cut down per day to lose fat?

I know this question's probably been posted millions times,but I don't check the forum a lot. So please forgive me:)
I'm 6'2",196 pounds, my fat procent is about 12%.
I'd like to reduce it to about 5-7%.
I just found out that I should intake about 3300 cal to maintain my weight and I want to avoid losing muscle as much as possible, so, How much calories should I cut down per day?
And is it ok to lose like 1 pound every week? or its too much?
and last, Should I continue lifting weight as usual?

P.S. I also have basketball practice 3 times a week.
I'll appreciate any help...thz a lot

I'd say that you should cut from 300-400 cals a day from this, and add one or two days of cardio into the week. You'll lose maybe a pound a week, and thats good.

You'll need to post a potential cutting diet based around 28-2900 cals for us.

I cut on 1900, feel lucky.

Well, I used to cut on 1600..I got big!

Listening to your body is the best thing to do. Aim for 2lbs a week. Anymore up your carbs a little anyless drop them or increase cardio.

I weigh 154 and I'm at anywhere between 11 and 14 percent.

I'd like to cut to a solid 9 or 10 before I start putting trying to put on weight again. Until I'm comfortable in my pants again.
