Hops, that 725 was smooth and fast. Not much difference between your 725 and 705 pull. You have more in you! Lots more!

Agree!

Looked pretty comfy, I bet you could have gone 735+

Great job on the block pulls. Even the 725 looked pretty easy for you. You should definitely be good for 700+.
Thanks Marcus!!! It felt good once I broke it off the blocks. I'm gonna test my pull from the floor in about 4 weeks or so. I'll see how I feel when the time comes.

Thanks Tim, I was gonna try another set and was gonna go 735 but I wanted to end the day on a good note and save it for next time.

LOL, thats what I was going to try next but I wanted to save it for next time. If I feel good and ready I'll attempt something heavy from the floor.

Notes:
That's it, I had no motivation going in to the gym. Everything was feeling heavy, and I just couldn't lockout the 4th rep. I need to rethink this program and maybe start doing other movments. I'm not sure if i'm getting overtrained from benching everyweek. But I will move on and give next week a shot and see how I feel before I make any changes.

Too bad about the miss how did 405 feel? What is your best gym bench? 440 if I recall correct?

I have a question. First off your raw Squat and geared squat are both amazing. This question is very noobish cause I don't know much about gear. Do you feel your Raw squat was higher than 600 when you hit 1030 in gear or with the right technique can gear add that much to a squat?

Your right, that's why I'm going to move on to week 5 next week and see how things go.

That big pull probably zapped you a bit.
Your probably right, because it was hard for me to get comfortable. But I think alot of it was due to lack of drive.

The 405 felt ok, but it wasn't my fastest press. My all-time PR is 455 and I did do 445 for a post injury PR.

My best gym squat without knee wraps since I took the gear off is 650. I find myself to be a very good geared squatter compared to raw. IMO, everyone is different. Glenn Baggot can squat low to mid 7's with knee wraps but his best geared squat is high 9's. Yes, with the right technique you can add some pounds to a geared squat.

Everyone has an off day now and then. The hardest lifts are the ones where the flesh is will but the mind does not want to cooperate. Without the drive and focus, the lightest weights feel heavy. If you can, get a sports massage, or some deep tissue work before your next training session. You'll see some new PRs!

I will be watching that video later when I get home but congrats on the big block pulls!! Heavy.

''only 4" away'' ...I like your train of thought!!

My family and I will be in North Venice for the last two weeks of April 2012. I know its a bit away but but we should arrange to meet up for a training session. An 'arm day' or something.. :P

Thanks Kiff, I know the program works because I've done it before. So we'll see how it goes, next week the last two sets drop down to 2 reps and the weight goes up about 20lbs on my last set.

Thanks alot, today I felt alot better in the gym.

Thanks alot Luna, I really wanted that pull and im so happy I got it. OR is probably right because I was feeling a little beat up when I was squatting today. But I did feel good about my training and wanting to train today.

Some words of wisdom, I like it Tim!!!! A massage doesn't sound bad at all, i'm actually going to soak in a hot tub in a few minutes and i'm really looking forward to it.

Squats w/ the mastadon bar
BARx268,453,156,979

620x1

Front squats w/ the cambared bar
150x5
240x5
330x3
350x1
330x3

GM's w/ the cambared bar
150x10
200x10
200x10

Notes:
Today started off a little rough, but after 495 I started to feel much better. When I was done with 570, I felt like I wanted to do a single just to get some heavy weight on my back. So instead of stopping at 570, I did a bonus set with 600. It wasn't the best, but it can definitley be an opener for me. Then I went to 620 for fun and it was pretty slow and ugly, but I expected it since I did all that other work before. The front squats went ok, but I was just exhausted from the free squats. On the GM's, I kept it light and my form tight. When I would bend down, I would stick my butt out and almost get on just my heels and that really hit my hamstrings and glutes. But after those, I had nothing left. Tomorrow im going to rest up, and Friday will be my events day. I'm thinking about doing some sort of OHP and since we got our farmer handles back, I'll probably do those as well.

Thanks, I'm doing the same program for my squat and it seems to be working fine so far. So i'm sure it was just an off day.

April Mathis told me that my off day could of been because I haven't had that much weight in my hands for a few weeks and my body wasn't ready for it and I agree 100% with her. That's why I need to give next week a shot.

My left knee buckled and popped and it doesn't look good. At first I wasn't getting any pain, but now the pain is starting to come. I was able to at least walk on it and now I have to favor that side. It's still not tender and I can poke at it with no pain at all. When I walk, every few steps I feel my knee shifting and popping which im sure isn't good. I shouldn't of tried it again or at all for that matter. I'm starting to think this strongman training isn't for me.

Farmers walk
70 each hand for 2 sets of 50ft
160 each hand for 2 sets of 50ft

I shouldn't of done these, but I slipped on my TK knee sleeve and gave it a try. I did have to favor my left side, but it's all good. I just got to let it heal.

Thanks alot everyone for the support. It looks like i'll be out of the game for a few weeks.

About the knee:
I ended up going to get it checked out because it was starting to get tight and hard to walk on. I saw a general physician today and they did take x-rays and he told me that it looks like I tore a ligament in my left knee. He did say everything else looked fine. I'll be going to an orthopedic doctor sometime next week, so hopefully i'll have some better news. They set me up with a brace that will allow me to walk normal and keep it moving. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.

I really do appreciate everyones support in here, and I will update you guys every chance I get.

This may sound gay but at the studio I train at we don't have machines and when I de-load at a commerical gym sometimes I kinda have fun on the machines since I never get to use them haha. I felt outta place around all the 150lb guys wearing gloves in machine land haha.

I'll try my best, I'll probably train at Golds Gym for a little while. Well at least for arm day, lol. I do know that my floor press is going to be HUGE!!!!! Then anything after that will probably be machines.

Today I saw my orthopedic and he did say that my knee was loose which freaked me out. He also said that there was alot of fluid in my knee so he drained it today while I was there and set me up with an MRI appointment. My knee has alot more movement now that he drained some fluid out, There was some blood mixed in with the fluid so that is sign of a tear. My appointment for the MRI is Tuesday and then I go back on Friday to find out what's wrong and what treatment is best.

I'm still willing to do the amputation cheap. However, that new bionic leg is gonna cost you.

Hops, it doesn't sound like the news was good, but it really isn't an amputation situation. Your recovery time might be extended, but you will heal. This is only a somewhat significant bump in the road of life. If you're really cool, you'll catch some air off this hazard and come back stronger than ever before. Hoping the best for you Brian!

Sorry to hear about it. That sucks, but you have the work ethic to come back even stronger. Definitely talk to some powerlifters that have been through this to get advice. Physical therapists only care and know about getting you back to normal day-to-day function. They have no clue how to get you back to squatting 1,000+ in multi-ply gear. They'll just tell you that it's stupid you did it in the first place.

Another stone to overcome bro. Sucks, but it looks like you've got the right attitude. Get in, get it done, and get on the road to recovery and back to ME work. Stay on track and on course. We're all rooting for you.

Dam bud im sorry to hear the bad news. A cadavor tendon is definately a good choice. Your knee wilk be bulletproof after you heal. At least you can still hit upper body work. I wish you the best.

Thanks Marcus!!! My best friend is a physical therapist so I might see him or get some ideas from him since he has dealt with alot of these. I'm also going to try and contact Jeremy Frey also because he tore his ACL. I definitely want to squat 1k+ again so this needs to heal up nice and strong.

Doesn't surprise me you have a torn ACL, that is usually the case when blood is drained from the knee. This didn't look good at all right from the start when you mentioned there was instability in the knees and you heard the pop.

We are with you all the way as you go through this ordeal Brian. There is no one more able to overcome a setback and move on like never before.

I was expecting it so it wasn't surprising at all, but of course I didn't want it to be my ACL. Thanks for the support Terry!!!!

Keep the faith Brian. I had ACL surgery on my right knee twenty years ago. There will be times when it seems like you won't return to form. You will! I worked my butt off in rehab and started squatting when I was ready. I became ten times stronger and the knee injury was my motivation. You have the will and attitude to turn this into a positive. Keep us posted.

I'm not going to rush things. I'll rehab it back to normal and like you did, start squatting when I'm ready. This injury definitely has me motivated to come back and start hitting PR's again :)

Ug. Sorry to hear about the results Hop. Maybe you can focus on benching while you're rehabbing and so some amazing shit there? It's good you've got the surgery scheduled so quick as well. Hopefully they're in and out and you're back at it in no time. Now go get that book so you've got something to read while you're laid up!

I'm not sure i'll put a shirt on, but I will focus on my raw work for awhile :) It would just be hard to bench in a shirt and really keep that tight form. But next year it's on :evillaugh:

For right now, no because I have my surgery in 3 weeks and i'm not sure how long it will be after surgery that i'll be able to train. This week I will either floor press or flat bench for sets of 5 and then next week do 3's and the last week (if I feel up to it) do some singles. Almost like 5/3/1 but without the reps at the end.
