Stellar workout! Setting some goals during an injury phase is exactly the way to stay motivated.

You might be seeing this whole ACL thing as a setback. I keep thinking you're raw bench numbers are going to go through the roof. All that work with no leg drive at all... Once you're healed and rehabbed you're gonna be stronger than ever before. In the meantime, enjoy your family during the off time. Relax - let your body and mind heal. You'll be hungrier than ever when you come back.

Great video! Seriously strong work on all the pressing work.
After watching you struggle to get up from floor presses, maybe you should just stay on the floor until you're done. Its not like you can help load the bar anymore. :D Uhm... you really are a 'hopper' now, aren't you?

Trying to do OHP with absolute NO leg drive SUCKS!!!! I didn't have a slight bend in either knee, and it was tough. This was also the most bicep work I have done in a long time, lol. I was feeling pretty jacked up after this workout :evillaugh: After the supersets, I did finish off with some wrist curls.

I think i'll stick with powerlifting :)
My pre-op is the 27th and my surgery will be May 5th. So it's coming around pretty fast. He said rehab will be about 6-12 months. I just hope I find someone to help me rehab my knee so I can squat 1000lbs again and not just live a normal persons life, lol.

That's the most i've done in a long time myself. I'll probably keep doing them like that since i'll be rehabing my knee for awhile. They were HUGE!!!!

Yeah, i've thought about that too. I might go see a friend of mine to get some ideas of what to do. I'm friends with Jo Jordan and he knows him, and one of my old training partners trains at the same gym. So I might be able to get in touch with him.

Notes:
I hit another PR today but this time it's a rep PR, 265x3. I did get a little scared because as I was locking out the 3rd rep I started going backwards and I took a step with my bad knee first. The good thing is, nothing happened and I still locked out the weight...I just couldn't hold it at the top like I usualy do.
I probably could of done 10 reps with the 185 but my legs were starting to shake and I didn't want to push it since I had that little scare on the set before. With more leg drive I would of gotten more reps on both sets. I felt that strong today.
Depending on how I feel, I might just take it easy at the gym since it will be my last for a few weeks. I did hit 2 PR's this week so i'm happy. But like I said, i'll see how I feel. I wouldn't mind hitting a floor press PR and maybe another shoulder press PR. If not, then i'll just do some rep work.

Aweseome PR's mate, i am no doctor but from the people i know that had your injury, once the initial pain and swelling goes you can get away with a lot, it will just give way now and again, not ideal with 100KG overhead i will give you that.

LOL, I did!!! The first time I don't think he needed to touch it, I felt good enough to get it. This time I actually felt like I stalled a little. But it's all good, I went back and got it :)
I do have to be careful with the leg drive. The set that I got the 450 on, I was able to get into a better position as far as an arch goes but I still didn't drive much with my legs.

Sorry it took me so long to get back with you guys. The surgery went well and the doctor is pleased with how everything went. I'm still a little light headed from all the meds, but I feel alot better now. They took off all the bandages and wrap that they put on yesterday. So now they just have a small dressing covering the incisions. My brace is locked in a straight position so there is no bending at all. I will update you guys more as I move forward, lol.

It does, but I didn't experiment the worse pain they were telling me I would have 24 hours after the surgery. It doesn't hurt at all when I'm laid up in bed, but it sure does once I get up.
Glad to hear things went as planned, Hopp. Did they not give you some sweet painkillers?
Thanks Justin!!! Yeah, they gave me some pain killers. I was taking 1-2 every 4 hours like it says. But then I backed off and I'm taking 3 Tylenols every 4 hours.
I still can't walk on it, even though he said I can put weight on it. But I am trying my best to keep it moving, even if I'm not bending my knee.
Probably a good idea to keep your feet up and not rush things, no pun intended.
Wish you well, time is always the key in these matters - at least the worst it over bro.

I'll admit. Physical therapy was insanely frustrating. I couldn't even step down from a phone book under control. I'd bend my knee a little then free fall until my foot hit the floor. A phone book is 3 or 4" thick! You just have to keep at it and realize it's part of getting back to squatting and deadlifting. You'll get back to 100% and more!

Week 1 post-op
I feel pretty good, and I was able to gain the weight back that I lost. I weighed 245 the day of the surgery and I woke up this morning weighing the same. My knee is still swollen a bit and so is my ankle. I was able to bend it some today but not much, lol. It feels like it would lock up and then I would feel the pain, lol. But I have been doing leg raises and it doesn't hurt to do them anymore like it did a couple days ago. I am starting to walk a little better now, but I still take my time and use my crutches. One day at a time....

Well, i've been going back and forth with the rehab clinic and BCBS. One says they are waiting for them to call back while the others say they are not suppose to call, lol. WTF!!!! I guess the lady at the rehab clinic never submitted my paper work, and one of the clerks did it for me today. She called me to go ahead and finally schedule me an appointment.......but I was out picking up our kids from daycare. She is going to try and get me in on Tuesday @ 11:30am, but she needs to run it by her supervisor to double check. But, it will either be Tuesday or Wednesday :) FINALLY!!!!!! I'll know for sure on Monday because she is suppose to get with her boss and find out which day would be better. I guess they are booked up and she knows that I need to get in, so she'll call me on Monday and let me know. Once I find out, i'll let you guys know.

I was worried about making a joke, but you seem to be taking it in your stride, so that's good.

It's all good, I have deep skin and a sense of humor. I was at the dentist office on Wednesday and one of the clerks asked me how many leg jokes have I heard and I said none, and then she asked if she can be the first and of course I said yeah. But she never said anything, but I was waiting. lol
So that makes you number one!!!

You don't need that leg to work your bench. You can prop it up on a milk crate or something. Glad you'll finally get into rehab. The time can't go by fast enough for you I'm sure, but many of us can't wait either to see you posting your inspiring workout videos. Stay positive and get to it.

You can do your benching in gloves with a thumbless grip, legs in the air to build your core at the same time......just saying.

I can do floor presses, but I can't train because i'm on FMLA and if I get caught i'll lose my job. So I need to wait until they release me. But once they do it's on because I want to do a bench only meet.

Funny story
My kids started playing teeball at the local YMCA and today was their first practice. So i'm walking in the grass down to the field with just one crutch and i'm walking, and i'm walking and then oh snap, I placed the crutch in a f'n hole, lol. Good thing I have a strong right leg because it kept me from falling over. Just my luck to do something that stupid, but i'm fine and I was able to keep myself from falling. I just though it was a funny story, I had to share with you guys.

Take it easy bro.......you don not want to slow the healing up.
Really interested to see your training leading up to the bench only meet!!
Will your bodyweight go down some now with not being able to squat and pull for a while?

I'll becareful, lol.
I'll probably use more of a westside approach and throw back in DE days.
If the weight drops off then I'll try and lose more and do 220's if not I'll stay in the 242's.

I think so to, it's just so hard for me to lose weight. I really need to work at it. Maybe that will be a goal of mine this year, get down to 220s and do a bench only meet.
Great to see how you are dealing with this Brian. Reading that story i thought you had messed up your other leg or something. Happy to read it wasnt anything serious :).
Cant wait for them to release you and see you putting up crazy bench numbers.

That probably wouldn't be good to do infront of 3-5yo, lol. We'll see how I feel once I start training again, I'll probably have to do some sort of cardio for rehab. So maybe 220's will be in reach.

It's going to take a bit to get the range of motion back, but it will come. I don't know what they use nowadays for rehab, but one thing they used to use was a Cybex machine. Kind of a seated hamstring curl/extension. They will probably test your strength levels in both legs at some point.
