It always blows me away how helpful people are in this sport. As much as some people like to bash others on the internet, there are twice as many great guys willing to go out of their way to help weak schmoes like me. Awesome article!!!

Powerlifting is unique in how much the top guys give back to the sport. In the short time I have been involved in powerlifting I have gotten a ton of advice on here from guys like travis bell, vinny, rhodes, rob and others. I've also been lucky enough to get to train with tim harold and train beside greg panora and jason frye and get to pick their brains a bit. Not to mention the guys on our team I train with who are all great powerlifters and let me join them.

How many other sports can some new guy get to train around world record holders?

Thanks to chris and the others who helped get this Q&A out. This is the best powerlifting forum on the web bar none.

A box jump of 20" with 2 70lb dumbbells is explosive? I've done 20" for sets of 8 with two ~35 lb KBs. I may have to give this a try to see if I can do it. I'll make sure to get video incase I eat it.

We've had a couple of guys at the gym do a 20" box jump with the 70s.

Hmm, I think everyone just wants to see me eat it, haha. I've talked Bill into trying this too on Saturday. We'll start out with a lower box and keep working up higher until we get to 20" or fail.

I want to try to get to a 30" box, but that may be a bit ambitious with 140lbs.

are we gonna use the two 32kg KBs?
