Hey guys,

August 1st is my debut meet.. weigh-ins are morning of and I'm just under 275lbs. I was wondering if anybody had tips for carb loading/creatine loading for the strength benefit but not the weight increase (due to morning of weigh ins)?

Any ideas?

You are going to compete as a 275?

gonna have to.. I'm 269lbs and don't think I'll be getting under 242 in a week.. this is my first meet so it'll just be to get my feet wet. It might have to be push/pull only since my hip is fux0rd.. we'll see how it feels the morning of.

Next year I plan on getting down under 242 to compete and I don't see myself going geared for a long long time.. I like lifting raw.. I may transition to strongman in the next 3-5 years as well, but that's more of a long term goal at this particular point..

You've got 5 or 6 pounds then. Just eat like you normally would.

Is it a 24 hour weigh in? If so you have some time to get a bunch of carbs in before the meet

nah, weigh-ins are at 8am, meet starts at 10am..

I was just wondering if I could use nutrition as a strength booster.. I know in the past I've done UD2 and crushed ****-tons of carbs with a creatine load to come in strong as hell on saturday... but that would increase my weight more than I want so I thought maybe you guys would have some other tips..

Depletion and loading strategies are too hit or miss to mess with in terms of reward for absolute strength in my opinion.

agree, just eat a $hit ton! if you want to bloat, then lotsa sodium and water or gatorade

Yeah, I'd just carb up and keep checking your weight to make sure you don't go over 275.

Just eat like you normally do man. Add some carbs here and there, you don't have to worry about sodium.

Remember, the morning when you wake up you'll be a couple pounds lighter than when you went to sleep. Don't count on this though, just keep it in mind.

Have fun, its your first meet!
