View Full Version : lower back rounds while squatting

I swear I can't get this squat thing down. I seem to be hitting depth now, am able to go atf after a good warmup. But as I approach the hole my lower back begins to round -- I think I've heard someone refer to this as "butt winking" lol. Is this only due to tight hamstrings? I will try and get some vid up, I feel like it is straining my lower back quite a bit and I'm lifting fairly light too.

I'm pretty sure there's a Squat Rx on this problem.

That is a really good video!!!! Those wall squats are actually pretty cool to do.

That video isn't bad. Some things might help, but they might not - things like high-bar/low bar positioning, etc. aren't discussed in the first video of the series. To get a more complete picture, you probably have to watch #1-5, and the last video.

We've discussed this technical issue many times - I'll try to find a good thread with the main points, but a search would be the place to start.

Just watch all the squat rx videos while you're at it. They are worth watching.
