What's the main difference between it and The Sims 2?

I was in High School when the original "The Sims" came out. I bought it, and played all weekend, and faked sick Monday morning so I could stay home and play all day. My sister has The Sims 2, and I played it a bit and it's really fun, but I can't seem to get into it like I once did.

I agree, my kids love this game and I can never get them off of it.

Yah I was in highschool when the first sims came out. I played it hardcore for a month or so then go bored of it. Playing real "grown up" life was fun when I was younger. Now that I have to do it for real, well not so much.

Not a lot, a few more skills, ability to go into town, own cars, some different jobs. Just addicting cause you're always like 'well lemme just get a little further then I'll quit'.

Is it available for a Mac? Gosh I remember being addicted to team fortress in high school and also the Sims. I would play those for about 30 hours each weekend ha.

I'm bumping this because I just got the game yesterday (on sale at bestbuy digital downloads).

The amount of customization is completely ridiculous. I'm a sucker for "sandbox" style games, so this one has me sucked in already.

I played the 1st one, but never the 2nd one, so I don't know how big a leap in the series this one is. But I love that you can visit other peoples houses, go into town etc. Plus they really amped up the interactions which makes interacting with people a lot more interesting.

I hated how in Sims 1, career x required you to get x number of friends so you could get promoted, and you'd just be forced to spam the same 2 or 3 interactions to get the other NPC's to friend status.

My fiancée absolutely loves the game. I played it for about 20 minutes and got pissed off because I had no idea how to manage all the things my guy needed. I also couldn't figure out how to clean the house and he was always unhappy because the place was a mess...

I haven't played it for awhile, but I started making some good money with the businesses I owned, the books I wrote, and being a Hall of Famer in the Sports career. I was going to quit the actual job so he didn't have to go to work but it's too much money.

I've officially surpassed any level of loserness I ever could have imagined. I had a big glass of wine in me the other night, and spent about an hour making the most attractive sim ever, dark skin, dark hair, skinny but muscular, and I customized each outfit... Jesus.

My dude is rather... dudely looking and jacked, but I'll be damned if I can make an attractive female sim for him to date. They all come out hideous.
