My bench 1rm is 205 and my floor press with legs flat(no leg drive) is 185lbs. Only a 20lb difference. How far apart should these two lifts be? Does this mean im not getting enough leg drive on bench? Ill get vids for critique on wednesday when i max on bench again.

If you think 20 pounds isnt much, look at it as a 10% difference. I have no performance related opinions on the subject, but there is more than one way to look at it.

My 1rm is 235 and my FP is 235. I definately need leg drive, but I also have REALLY week delts.

my floor press is really close to my flat bench. usually when the fp goes up, the bench is soon to follow.

My best floor press is 525 and my best raw bench is 545 so 20lbs seems pretty normal. I've been really working my floor press lately though so that gap has probably closed a bit.

It doesn't really matter how much is between them though. Floor press is an accessory movement, just like boards. So long as your bench is going up, who cares?

My floor press and bench are further apart than most have posted in this thread, but I have a big arch and get a lot of legs.

I agree with Travis though, if floor presses are increasing your flat bench, keep at em. Doesn't matter what you floor press, just what you bench.

They are both still going up but if i can lift more with more leg drive im going to work on it. I think i have pretty good leg drive but i wasnt sure since i realised my floor press and bench were so close. I guess thats normal though.

Thanks guys

I just recently hit 380x1 on floor presses and my bench is still under 400. Leg drive is of course important, but its not adding huge numbers to your bench. Your right on track pal :)

10% sounds right to me. Best floor is around 545 and my best regular is 600.

with a big arch and a healthy gut and stumpy arms my floor press is actually a greater ROM than a regular bench press for me...... big difference

My FP was pretty close to my comp style BP last year. I think I was 415 FP and 425 BP. I have a problem with one tricep touching before the other and it threw me off on my FPs.

FP something that you guys do fairly often? I haven't been doing them because I don't have access to a rack that has the hooks that can be moved to the other side, and doing them inside would result in the bar touching the rack before elbows touch the ground.

I just realized that it might be weird that I do floor press a lot with DBs. Anyway, it works and you don't need a rack. I don't do it for max though with the DBs, just reps.

No need for hugs. Just trying to get my strength where it needs to be I won't be satisfied till I hit a grand!

Clearly you are heavy and cranky. I like it! I'll be first in line to congratulate you when you hit the grand. Keep pushin.
