Hey guys i am pretty new to this stuff and have been searching for an answer to this question but havent been able to find anything.

I have been working out for a couple months now, I was using a NO product from six star muscle and it worked pretty good, I was feeling some pretty good pumps. Anyway that ran out and i had heard so much about NO Shotgun that i decided to try it instead. I have used it for a couple workouts and i just doesnt seem to get the same pump as i was from the SSM. My question is.......is the pump you get even necessary?? Or what am i getting out of it? i still feel like i have good energy and am able go through my whole workout, but I will be honest i do like the pump feeling, it makes me feel like i am really working things. Anyway i look forward to any thoughts or comments you have. Thanks in advance!

Depends on how badly you want that "pump" feeling as to whether you need it. You would probably do fine without it. I never got anything out of the Six Star NO pills but I can see my blood pressure has gotten better since taking the powder form of L-Arginine & I get a terrific pump and feel like I can go an extra 3-4 reps. I have used the powder form for a little over 4 months.

You want to go to your public library & get a book called NO More Heart Disease:How Nitric Oxide Can Prevent--Even Reverse- Heart Disease and Stroke.

Here's why; this book is written by the man that discovered that the L-Arginine turns into Nitric Oxide & what it does in your body. He won the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1998 for his research on Nitric Oxide & explains how much you need to take, with what and why. It's more complex than what the supplement companies tell you and what they put out on the market.

He explains that you have to take at least 4000-6000 mg for it to have more than a negligible effect. The book qoutes studies showing that taking up to 10,000 mg is safe.

Plus you want to take it with about 1000 mg of L-Citrulline another ammino acid that supports the NO in optimizing blood flow through its conversion and recycling of L-Arginine. He also adds that you should take 500-1000 mg of vitamin C, & about 200 mg of E to help stabilize the NO and to help ward off free radicals that cause the NO not to last as long.

This doctor's research led to Viagra as well. Whether you're in your fifties like me or an 18 year old this book is a must read if you're into bodybuilding. It's not just for heart patients or the sick. The book was the easiest read I've had in a long while and it explains what this miracle NO through L-Arginine & L-Citrulline can do for the body. They are just scratching the surface with how it affects the body, I had trouble putting the book down. It had so much good information that was useful - I highlighted about every 2 pages .

I get the powder form of L-Arginine at Nutrabio. They also sell on ebay a little cheaper sometimes with free shipping, but you can get it at a lot of places. The pills just never did anything that I could really notice. Take it in water not with any sugary drink & on an empty stomach about 45-60 minutes before your workout. Wait about 30 minutes before you eat anything else. Supposedly it competes with the other ammino acids, so don't take it with anything besides the L-Citrulline.

Not trying to be snarky, but what's this supposed to mean exactly?

I am pretty sure that there are a lot of other topics about NO products. Search would have given you these, among others. Happy reading!:hello:

Ignarro the doctor who wrote "NO More Heart Disease: How Nitric Oxide Can Prevent--Even Reverse--Heart Disease and Stroke" states that if your supplement program of L-Arginine does not contain L-Citrulline to synergize the L-Arginine, you will not receive the full benefit in it's production of NO.

I quoted "don't take with other ammino acids" because supposedly they compete with one another (perhaps canceling out one another) from a web site not from the Dr. Ignarro's book.

L-Citrulline is an ammino acid but it is converted into L-Arginine which further amplifies the NO creation.

P.S. I will again say the NO Six Star pills never did a thing for me. At 51 with high blood pressure the generic L-Arginine powder does lower my blood pressure & on "most" workouts I feel like I get an extra 3-4 reps in while on it. I seem to lose that edge when I have gone off it for several weeks. That's my 2 cents worth.
