Hey guys, I joined a few months ago, and just been kind of sitting back and reading.....

I am now on a serious diet, and just started working out again 3 weeks ago....

I use to workout a little after high school, but haven't worked out in 3 years..

Here are some pics of me now, and I will be updating this thread with progress pics as I go....

I am 6'2"
270lbs

My goals: I would like to get down to around 240ish in weight, just depends on my build.....I primarily want to bulk, and be benching over 300 by next summer.....

Not sure what my max is in anything right now....I'll max first of next week....

Thanks guys...

Chris

You look like you have a great base to build on.

If I were you I'd just forget cutting and try and get as big and strong as I could. You will get over 300 easy.

Anyone could get over 300 easy :tuttut:. I dont think this is good advice but i think you, OP, already know that.

If you want to drop the weight, you will have to eat less. I think that after you loose some weight you could look into bulking. You might get some strength increases seeing as you may have muscle memory but normally this is rather slim on a cut.

Good luck!

Yes its called the "impossible" diet. You are either going to increase muscle mass with a surplus of calories or reduce bodyfat with a deficit of cals. You cant do both at the same time.

What you could do is a recomp where you slowly add muscle while slowly cut fat. This is as said a slow process and requires dedication, however it can be down.

One of the better diets you could look into is "carb cycling". I am doing it right now and i have lost 13 pounds in 7 weeks and increased my squat with 45 lbs and my deadlift with 45 lbs. Keep in mind though, i am a beginner so this could be beginner gains. It could work for you aswell, in my opinion.
